Chemotherapy has an unlikely connection with World War II, in which a compound found from the war is still used till this day to treat cancer. To perform a bone marrow transplant, the patient's original bone marrow cells have to be removed through chemotherapy. But this holds certain risk for both Lucy and Deidra, having their immune system removed for a period of time.
