First impressions of Thessaloniki & meeting my tutor in real life 🇬🇷
My first few days in Greece were so fun so I'm excited to share this vlog with you! Thessaloniki was an absolute vibe, i'd definitely go back and spend some more time there.
Meeting my friend and Greek tutor George was awesome and I highly recommend checking out his language school linked below which offers 7 languages if you're interested in 1-1 lessons. I have absolutely no regrets with taking up Greek lessons, it was probably the best investment I've made in myself this year.
Stay tuned for my next Greece vlogs to watch Christie and I on our Halkidiki roadtrip all over the peninsulas.

I always love seeing the foods 😆 I can't wait to see more of Greece.
I’m glad you’re studying Greek. Never be ashamed of learning a language especially if it teaches you something about your heritage. Why wouldn’t you want to do that? I’m half Asian. My great grandparents emigrated to Hawaii between 1893 and 1903. My grandparents were taught to speak American English and Pidgin - the “Language” that is spoken in Hawaii because assimilation was the rule. Grandma and Grandpa couldn’t talk to their parents. Imagine how many of my family’s stories were lost to assimilation. But that won’t happen to your family. 🤗

This is so great to see! Greece looked absolutely beautiful, George seems so friendly and I'm so happy for you learning Greek and enjoying yourself! X
Literal perfection with this vlog Lia. Awesome all around - I especially enjoyed the bit at the end with you singing. Great job - can’t wait to see more!
I always love traveling with you Lia. Ty for for showing me Greece 💗🐠
Greece was my first solo overseas trip. I was eighteen and just out of high school. I loved it so much and still love traveling to this day. I’m looking forward to your show, Lia!

This was great! It looks like you had a lovely time and it's such a pretty place. Can't wait to see the rest of the trip.(And I don't mind seeing the food :)
Cool episode! Can’t wait to see more. I love Greece and am dying to one day go! Bucket list!! I studied Greek (and Roman) art history in school and have been dying to go ever since.
I think it is so great that you are trying to improve your Greek. Well done you! I think it is wonderful to keep learning and doing new things.
I love your vlogs with Christie and of course Ach and Joel too. Greece looks a very beautiful country 🌞🗺
Loved your singing at the end! 🌷
Have loved your vids for years Lia ,u always make me feel good Please never change ,go Lia
So beautiful! I went on a Mediterranean cruise with family and everyone's absolute favorite was Greece! I am dying to go back! George seems like the perfect host and it's so cool that you are working on your Greek and reconnecting with your roots. You and Christie look like a couple of Greek Goddesses! If I ever go back I'm calling up George and packing my mosquito repellant. ;) Can't wait to watch more of your adventures!

Yup...Greece 🇬🇷 is definitely going on my "Bucket list." Thanks Lia for sharing...
Lia, I know this vlog is two years old BUT…..I’m watching all of your older ones to catch up. I found you and Joel mid November 2021 and absolutely LOVE you both! Also I found Backpacking bananas. So nice to see her join you in your adventure!
I LOVE the cheek. Cheekier the better. Here on the Texas coast, snapper and flounder have the chubbiest cheek. And nicely butterflied sea bass, guess we learnt from Galveston's greek heritage after the 1900 storm rebuild. Also, thank you for the singing outro, your rich and smooth voice is such a beautiful ending, like a chocolate dessert. xx
I love seeing food in vlogs!!!! Please keep those in! 👍👍👍👍
Greece was never on my list of places to see, but you have made me fall in love with it! Don’t be ashamed to catch up on learning the language of your heritage or figuring out where you fit in. You’re not alone; many, many people are in those same shoes. My kids are 1/2 American/ 1/2 Mexican. They feel that everyday with the 2 cultures & languages.
My wife and I almost got the chance to visit early this year but between the lockdown and her health issues we couldn't go. Beautiful beaches and delicious looking food! Lia, good job embracing your Greeknes as well as your English self. We're multifaceted so thank you for sharing 🙏🏾

Lia I connect with you hardcore on the language learning - especially when it comes to your own culture. I grew up Russian-American...didn't use it much growing up. I even went to Russian school on Saturdays for 4 hours lol learned how to read and write though. Had to relearn a lot of the language in my late teens, early twenties. Awesome that you're taking those steps :D never give up

What a beautiful and interesting place. Have a great time.
My sweet Lia, I love food pictures and when you talk about what your eating and your opinions of it. Due to this video and how lovely you show Thessaloniki, we are planning a visit in 2021 (provided the COVID-19 is better and allowing safe-ish traveling). To know the best foods to try and wines to drink would be devine my dear.
So helpful to see how travel is now with COVID. Great that you get your own row on plane. Foot buttons for turning on water is the future! I’m the same w coffee/only drink when I’m traveling and it doesn’t have adverse affects. I miss Greece now. I spent 3 months there once and loved it. Tutoring on line is also the future. Lia you are so future.legend!
Thx for sharing the laughs...🤗❤️
I laughed because you said don’t itch them and I always remember when people used to tell me “you don’t itch your scratch” and it never made sense to me lol then I got older and understood because it’s don’t scratch your itch. Or no? Lol ha ha ha made me laugh though great video! Love it!
You should definitely film the food!!!! I love it :)

Glad you went to Greece. It is a very different environment from where you live. (2 thumbs up)

I don't know who said they don't like info on foods ... maybe they are sick?!? Looks like a great time so far! Looking forward to more! x
Love, love this. Wonderful blog. F.Y.I. Antihistamine will help with the itching. This comes from a person mosquitoes thinks of as dessert. Just make sure there is no decongestant in it.

Great travel vlog. Love looking at food, especially Mediterranean food. Why travel if not to eat. Athens and Greek isles aside, have to make Thessaloniki, and surrounding areas, a place to visit next time.
Perfect! Next time come in Athens to try Freddo Cappuchino and not espresso. :p And of course to improve your greek skills! Hope you had fun in Θεσσαλονίκη! Φιλάκια!! Also, I feel the same. When I am in Greece, I feel like I am a Londoner (oh yeah, Londoner) and when I am in London, I love all the greek things

I had to have 'mother language' lessons on a Saturday at a local school too when I was a teenager. I could speak the language, just not read the script. Of course we all messed around in class and threw wet paper towels at each other! Now in my early 40s, I'm learning to read the script via an App.
The high school that my brothers and I and our children went to have the bathrooms and water fountains were foot controlled. I graduated in 82, so it was ahead of the time

Will remember this for sure
Sooth mosquito butes as soon as you can by using a little spot of water on the bute then sorinkle a little but if salt on it. The itch stops right away. Use saliva is no salt or water available.
little hint: sun cream [ British] equals sun screen [American ]
I forgot to tell you for your scars from scratching the bites. Get a aloha vera plant break off a little piece rub it over the scars. After about 6 months to a year they should be gone or nearly gone.
Lia, only you could sing ABBA like a lullaby!

If you dab a bit of bleach on the bites it takes the "itch" out of the mosquito bites.
