First Impressions of the Scottish Highlands
Journey with us into the magnificent Scottish Highlands. Scotland's (and U.K's) best outdoors! In this episode, we share our first impressions, eat some delicious food in the quaint village of Plockton and drive on the steepest road in the UK (Bealach Na Ba), where we attempted to hike, but the weather had different plans for us.

The Scottish Highlands definitely have a spiritual power! I have felt it myself when I was last there!
The old saying goes "If you can see the mountains, then it's going to rain. If you can't see them, it's already raining!".

So true! 😂
I live in Scotland and the Highlands are one of the most beautiful places in the world. Weather can be brutal but its well worth the views. The passing places are normal for any country road so we don't think twice about them. Thank you for sharing your travels. X

Hi Angela, the Highlands truly are one of the most beautiful places in the world. And no amount of time feels enough to visit. ❤️ We’re glad we got the hang of the passing places and didn’t push our luck with the weather. Thank you for watching!
No one comes to Scotland for the weather (especially in October!) If it was 80 degrees and sunny all the time, you wouldn't have those beautiful lush atmospheric landscapes. It wouldn't be half as nice. Four seasons in one day, a photographers dream, wonderful, ever changing light. For anyone coming this year, summer's on 22nd July ... before 2.30pm 🤣🤣
The only good thing the Woodland Trust did for a long time 😂. Good video ladies.
Great Vlog ladies, you were very brave coming here in October, June and July are are usually our best months. I hope you find your way back sometime . good luck😁
Wow! It did look scary! Loved your video! The scenery is beautiful and the food looked soooo good. What a good idea to do pet sitting to get free housing.
Seems like you girls had quite an adventure! It’s beautiful in Scotland❤ The food also looks delicious 😋
Brilliant great video glad use enjoyed🏴🇮🇪

I really enjoyed watching this vlog of the Highlands. The narrow roads look scary but the food looks delicious! Especially that seafood chowder that Olivia had. The scenery was breathtaking...great scenic shots, guys.

There is a particular version called 'Cullen Skink' made with spring onions, cream, smoked haddock and potato which is heaven in a soup bowl...
This part of Scotland is really very beautiful. I was there with a friend and we actually drove to Inverness from Glasgow with the wonderful scenery of the Lochs (Loch Oich, Loch Lochy, Loch Ness). Unfortunately we didn't get to see Nessie, but we visited Urquhart Castle (as I recognized will be in your next video). After spending some time in Inverness, we drove up to Thurso to get to the Ferry to the Orkneys. The drive on these narrow highland roads with 90° angle turns was pretty scary, but the landscape was absolutely amazing.
It's an adventure, everyone should have one

@@MariaOliviaTravel Thank you! I’ll be there in June so 🤞for weather. I watch a lot of live aboard sailors/travelers…Sailing la Vagabonde (almost 2M subscribers now), Sailing Uma (check out their remote winter Nordic sailing! 🥶), Gone with the Wynns, SV Delos (Africa and South Pacific episodes are epic), Sailing Navika (polyglot yogis with a chill Euro vibe), Sailing Magic Carpet. IMO, for all of them, some of their earlier years are the best vids. On land, I watch what’s relevant to my travel planning and haven’t found any I’m interested in following until you gals. 😊 Our Freedom Years might be the only one. They give a lot of practical and ‘how-to’ advice on FT travel that has helped me step into the lifestyle. I’ll be in southern France April-May… if you’re around, it would be cool to meet up!
That’s it I need to visit the highlands🤩

Wonderful video, thanks for the upload. 05:43 A Scottish mystery comedy-drama television series produced by BBC Scotland, called Hamish Macbeth, was filmed in and around Plockton. Three series were made and it starred Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, The Full Monty, The Beach, 28 Weeks Later etc etc). If you can get hold of these (available online) they'll help you remind you of your visit nicely (good series too).
The terrain is so dramatic and gorgeous!! Also that fish looks amazing!! I really miss fish n chips with a good quality fish and batter!

Omg yes, I could have good fish and chips every day 😋
haha you were just unlucky with the weather, that's all. When it comes to the famous Scotch mist, you come to learn that it could be summer and you'll get that, but then during autumn you may get a clear view, or the opposite way around. The weather can be unpredictable, but despite all of that, it's good that you's managed to enjoy yourselves. Anybody attempting hiking in those conditions, always be careful.

Impossible not to enjoy ourselves in your beautiful country 😍
if you do feel an affinity with the geology and landscapes of scotland and the scottish highlands.i will highly recommend watching "men of rock" here on youtube.i have watched the 3 part series many times now and it really helps you understand the importance of scotland in modern geology, enjoy,
Very nice video ladies. But if you think the Bealach Na Ba is scary at about 20% ascent , do not try the Hardknott Pass in Cumbria. It has ascents and descents at 30%. With roads as narrow (or narrower in some places) and no guard rails. 😲 But it is soooo much fun to drive. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Re the mist.... I got lost up a mountain path near Loch Ness and I could see the mist coming towards me...... As it passed by me I stuck my arm out to the side and my whole hand disappeared.... Scary stuff indeed...

Thank you Michael 😊 it would have definitely been easier to do it in the summer but I think the experience wouldn’t have been as tranquil with so many people. The energy of the Highlands is amazing! We felt so refreshed and energized! We can’t wait to come back, which I hope it will be soon. It’s one of our favorite places ever! 😍
1:06 In Highlands we call the sausage roll a dogs arse because the end of it looks like a dogs arse. Hope you enjoyed!
As if by magic the passing places always seem to be there at the point you need them

You would be fine Janelle up there , drivers in the UK are very careful and considerate about other drivers on the roads. Also you certainly will be enthralled with the Scenery of my Homeland Scotland truly is a very special place, and you certainly will feel it when you are there.
We say Cost-a, not Coast-a
Two hands on a steering wheel is good at all times. You actually took both hands completely off the wheel at one point. 5.00 mins, and you're talking about safety ??
When hot wings video?

Roads aren’t scary, try two hands on the wheel and look At the road.
