It was a really nice city! Started to feel like a second home as I was there for so long!

The best part of the video IMO is this is not; Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and surrounding, which gets the bulk of attention from foreigners, tourists. Which also is understandable, but with the public transport option (at the moment not that reliable with strikes and workers shortages) I think Eindhoven as a base gives you more mobility and options towards experiencing the Netherlands in its diversity, diverse cities. Every province has its own history and beauties to discover that are interwoven into the "Dutch" culture/the Netherlands. Since you also look for things to do and people to surround yourself with, my advice would be stick to capital cities of the provinces, and local advice. For my province that would be Maastricht, it all depends on what you are looking for on your holidays to do. River tours, other tours, city life, caves, near Belgium and Germany. Valkenburg (Limburg) is also known for its tourism and as a wellness city. You want a spa day? Friesland should also be a different experience, and the proud Frisii history, looking for Roman Empire remanences stick below the rivers that split the Netherlands in North (above Rivers) and South (below Rivers).

Hi, nice video. What are your thoughts on the housing situation? I got here 3 days ago and it's crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I moved from China where there are thousands of empty apartment to The Netherlands where having money doesn't guarantee an apartment. As much as I like it so far, the housing issue cannot be ignored.

Nice to see my city in this video. Slightly missed opportunity though, you didn't show some of the parks. Away from the city centre, Eindhoven is quite green.

Welcome to Eindhoven! We have two slogans in our city: 'Boeren! Boeren!' ('farmers! Farmers!') which tells people we are proud to NOT be the 'big' city (randstad). We are looked down upon by big city dwellers, we are called 'farmers', we turned that around, and are proud to be called that now, especially when our soccer team beats up the soccer team of Amsterdam, lol. Then we have the slogan 'Eindhoven de gekste!' (Eindhoven the craziest!), thats because we do thing differently/are technologically advanced (daf, philips, ASML just south of Eindhoven are all world leading brands). We consider Brabant to be the most welcoming province, and Eindhoven to be the nicest city of Brabant.

Absolutely agree with Sim in that Netherlands people are very friendly and helpful. I visited Amsterdam, Leiden, Rotterdam & Haarlem in July 2023. I, however find their supermarkets not as "clean" as the likes of Pick n Pay & Woolies. Oh my word Jambo was bad for me😢. Shoprite is better actually. But that's my experience. I enjoy youe vids. Thank you ❤

Their food is not the best one but I really enjoy fish here and Dutch snacks. Unfortunately, it’s quite difficult to eat out healthy, therefore I prefer to cook dinner at home.

I like things like pancakes, poffertjes, pea soup, stamppot, hete bliksem and fried snacks. Not exactly good for the waist line though. And like a lot of other people here I have a raging passion for salty licorice. A lot of more interesting (and less bland) Dutch dishes got phased out before 1900 rolled around because of political and cultural reasons. I did some research on that ages ago. The dishes that survived were typical farmers food or lower class food, that is why it is often bland and heavy in starch. Still they are a comfort food for many that grew up eating it. A lot of things that Dutch people have been making for at least a century but which aren't just Dutch (you'll find similar things around Europe) fly under the radar. I'm talking about simple but solid home cooking with things that grow here and make dishes such as soups, stews and salads. The combo of vegetables, meat and potatoes is also nothing remarkable but has been exported across the globe wherever Dutch people have settled down. Maybe bland, it depends on who you ask, but certainly not flavourless. But yeah, the Netherlands isn't known for it's cuisine and that likely won't change. Food here is mostly practical and that mindset is very Dutch. Why else would we eat bread for breakfast and lunch?

People are nice...anywhere BUT Limburg. The rest of the NL say that limburg people are very closed off and unfortunately I've experienced that to be true.
