Today was my first day in Mumbai (India) and so I took to the streets near the crawford market area and explored. I bought some local items for some very honest prices, got invited for tea and then also had my drink paid for by a stranger. Which immediately told me alot about the Indian hospitality and what I was going to expect over the next few weeks. I then made my way over to the older district where I showed the gateway of India and bought a few items in the area.
Mumbai, also known as Bombay (the official name until 1995) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. According to the United Nations, Mumbai is the second-most populous city in India after Delhi and the eighth-most populous city in the world with a population of roughly 2 crore (20 million).

@@mariajason3547 ok.. know it this way. Urdu is a language created by mixing Arabic and Hindi. Arabic speaking mughals converted the hindi/sanskrit speaking locals of the Indian subcontinent into muslims during their long periods of invasion/mass-murders/rapes etc. Now these newly converted people spoke Hindi whereas islam was already based on arabic( language history shows its roots in sanskrit too). So they had to mix up the two and came up with a new language Urdu. In present, as because most muslims( here Indian) does read or listen or atleast grows in a family where multiple people knows the quran, they naturally come up with a vocabulary which is or similar to urdu.

This was exciting for me to watch, cuz I visited Mumbai just a few weeks ago, (Feb-early March). The south Mumbai colonial architecture is amazing. I stayed at the Taj Palace Hotel for a week, it was a great experience because the hotel has a lot of history, and the ocean view was spectacular, but the room was small. I then stayed at the JW Marriott (not a luxury hotel like the Taj) for a week and got a huge suite with a beach view. The traffic is crazy, the hot weather is unbearable, I hated it at first, but then fell in love with the city once I got used to it. Unlike you, I did not explore the city on foot. I had a local hostess traveling with me, who was overprotective, so I only traveled by car and I was not allowed to eat street food. I'm hoping to visit Mumbai again.

Yeah the food is known is for its spiciness but there are many dishes which are not spicy and still taste a lot better. And Indian deserts are the best. You must try Indian street food......Not even the Taj can offer that kind of deliciousness which the Indian streets can offer.

Harry, when you get drinks from a street vendor, make sure there's no ice in it. Don't even drink it if there's been ice in it and they take it out. You're going to spend a week on the toilet if not worse if you're not careful.

India has huge variety of food . in every 50 km food changes . whenever you visit a restaurant ask for special Thali of that state you are in . in thali you will get most popular food items of that state. for example if you are in Chennai which is capital of Tamil Nadu State then ask for a Tamil thali. a thali can be both veg and non veg type you have to mention which one you want. this is how you can taste more food item at once . most flavourful food are in Kerala known for its beefs and fishes for veg Chennai is the place Hyderabad has the best non-veg items Kolkata is the sweet hub of not only India but the world for delicious snacks it is Ahmedabad Mumbai is the street food capital of India for Delhi Belly the city with the same name is the place to visit.
