The Kamakhya Temple at Nilachal hills in Guwahati, Assam is one of the oldest and most revered centres of Tantric practices. The temple is the center of the Kulachara Tantra Marga and the site of the Ambubachi Mela, an annual festival that celebrates the menstruation of the goddess. Structurally, the temple is dated to the 8th-9th century with many subsequent rebuildings-and the final hybrid architecture defines a local style called Nilachal. It is also one of the oldest of the 51 pithas in the Shakta tradition

11:19 It's not a river. It is a pond named DIGHALIPUKHURI. I live very near. As per historical legends, its creation is credited to King Bhagadatta, who led the Kauravas in the Battle of Kurukshetra, in the Mahabharata.

Hey Frenchy, You asked what's fancy about Fancy bazaar. Fancy bazaar actually has a bit of a dark history and source of name. The actual name of Fancy bazaar is 'Phansi Bazaar'. 'Phansi' means both the hanging noose and the act to hang to death. That came from the Jail nearby where prisoners used to be publicly hanged in the bazaar during the Raj. Officially that market is still known as 'phansi' bazaar, but most people now call it Fancy bazar. I hope you will travel through rest of the state and see all that it has to offer. Our state is really beautiful and culturally vibrant. You will miss a lot if you left after just after visiting Guwahati.

Welcome to Assam bro. Love watching your videos. I have been following your channel since ladakh ride. After your Nagaland trip you should try Arunachal, I believe you will love the scenic beauty there. Mechuka and Tawang are such places in Arunachal.
