Avenue Road, a heaven for book lovers and Eoin bought one of the most popular stuff there. The vegetable you were holding was Mangalore Cucumber (popular in coastal part of Karnataka)

Did you notice any convenience stores like 7-Eleven or Family Mart in Bangalore? If there are convenience stores in Bangalore but not these ones what is the brand that they operate under? Thanks.

Got a couple of Indian-specific recommendations for you, you’ll find em at those knockoff stalls: ‘The God of Small Things’ by Arundhati Roy (not a light read but beautiful to the point of being exquisite) and the very different but funny and entertaining ‘The White Tiger’ by Aravind Adiga. Also anything by Ruskin Bond.

I'll second Ruskin Bond and add anything by RK Narayan. For extremely well written gripping stories from history, The White Mughals by William Dalrymple and Rebel Sultans by Manu Pillai.
