First Halibut Catch of 2023! I try out a robotic lure, with underwater footage!
We catch our first halibut of 2023! This was a trip to Flat Islands, one of our favorite spots to find "chickens," aka little, tasty halibut. I tried out some spots that were taken from an old sea captains GPS, around Flat Islands.
I also tested out my new robotic lure, but the battery went dead rather quickly. However, it did attract fish, as you can see with our underwater camera. On our way back we stopped in at the remote town of Seldovia for a quick bite to eat, then it was home to clean fish. It was a great day on the water, with mild seas and great company.

Hey Matt. I live in Homer and have really enjoyed watching you make great memories with your family. And really appreciate the open handed approach to your videos showing gps points where you were successful or not. I don't make videos but I take the same approach with sharing spots with friends. On a side note, I'm so happy to see you have a new boat after the most unfortunate mishap a few years ago in PWS. Another example of you showing the good as well as the bad. And even more thankful that all you lost was a boat and all aboard were ok. God is good ALL the time.

Thanks Pat, appreciate the comment! I did fix up the old boat that sank, I will have some videos of the recovery and repairs coming soon. I do really like my Raider, the old boat I sold after fixing it back up. Stay tuned!

The ones we caught were all halibut, but the underwater cam might have gotten a flounder on it.
