Simple reason is she is using her zanpaktuou on herself, she also is only an aprentice of Kirinji, and finallu what ukitake has well its complicated, also yamamoto is older than her so he was already aging by the times squads where formed

As a series that loves its fillers, a distant prequel arc about these guys would honestly work quite well. It's disconnected enough from the main story, which means it can do whatever it wants without mucking up canon the way the Zanpakuto arc did. Being a prequel, it can also serve to explain details and expand the lore.

This is even wilder when you consider what some of their Divisions become in the future: - 4th becomes an entirely supporting force with doctors, nurses, suppliers, and janitors - 6th gets taken over by the Kuchiki, who are known to be History Keepers - 9th becomes a security force with a side gig of arts and culture with a news agency - 12th becomes an R&D institution The only Divisions who have remained the same for the past millennia are the 1st and 11th, and possibly the 2nd (mostly because we don't really know when the Shihouin combined the 2nd Division and the Omnitsukido Force)

The Shihouin combined 2nd Squad with Onmitsukido some time before Turn Back the Pendulum when the current (at the time) Shihouin head and leader of the Onmitsukido (Yoruichi) became 2nd Squad Captain. This means Chika wasn't the Shihouin head, just a really strong Shihouin who decided to join with Yamamoto, while the head of the clan stayed separate leading the Onmitsukido.

This Danjiro Obana guy gives me some serious Shunsui vibes.

Dayum 6th and 8th captains had some hotties.

Personal Theory : Yamamoto and Unohana killed them off sometime after the 1st quincy war. They were a bunch of criminals and killers not true captains after all. Having them as leaders of the Gotei 13 after the war is meaningless and troublesome. They were scouted to do all the killings after all. And they served their purpose. To say they died of old age is not logical. Same goes to saying they were killed during missions since we just witnessed how strong they really were. Unohana might be the most notorious criminal among them, but she changed and keep a low profile after meeting Zaraki. So I guess the only logical theory is that the head captain and the kenpachi of that generation teamed up to killed them off. That's explain why the two were the only remaining OG captains when the series started. EDIT : Actually one of the reasons behind my theory is when Yhwach steals Yamaji's Bankai, he says that he could use it to awaken the corpses of Yamamoto's subordinates. As we all know, Zanka no Tachi : Minami allow Yamaji to summon the corpses that were killed by his zanpakuto. So this may imply that Yamamoto did not only slay his foes back in the day, but also his subordinates from the original Gotei 13. And to do so, he might need the aid of the second strongest captain from that generation, Unohana Yachiru, who he personally sought out for her swordsmanship and battle prowess before forming the gotei. However, now I don't think that all of them were killed off, maybe some just died in battles.

Good theory actually. Won't be surprised if this is true. For example, Rocks Pirates in One Piece. They were notorious and violent as well. Constantly having death battles on their ship like nothing. If what you're saying is true, i mean the Captains were bloodthirsty and merciless, so it wont be that surprising to see if the Soul King or Yamamoto wouldn't want to associate with them after the Quincies extermination

Tite Kubo has the greatest character design in all of manga. Not only is he able to create a vast expanse of characters that are basically wearing the same outfit yet strangely exudes character diversity, but he also has illustrated people of color that does not affirm stereotypes unlike other manga.

What does that even mean? Kubo is an Asian like all the characters he writes in his manga. Bleach is a manga where almost all the characters are Asian. That term doesn’t even mean anything outside the West, which mostly means the United States.

Unohana was considered to be the strongest after Yamamoto, and Unohana is way weaker than tybw Kenpachi, and this Kenpachi is nothing in comparison to Gerard.

This information already exists. But you have to know how to speak japanese and pay in japanese money to get it. I know, for example, that Obana Danjiro of the 5th Division married a woman from the Ise family and died because of their curse. Shigyō Nobutsuna tried to kill Central 46 and is trapped in Muken. Ōtogawa Furuoki was ordered to kill Furōfushi Saitō and committed samurai suicide when he failed.

I’m frustrated because everyone expected at least a Kuchiki and a Shiba to be among those captains, like the Shihoin guy

They look friendly and cool, but this generation of Gotei is brutal and wild in battle mode.

So: Sakahone - was old man Saka, before old man Yama was a thing Zenjoji - Kingpin grew the Big Van Vader hair and put on Samurai clothes Unohana - a beautiful woman until she draws her sword, after then, she's more like Onryo Otogawa - probably the most sigma of the bunch Kumoi - imagine this guy as the head of security, he already has a nightstick as a shikai Katori - if Kyoraku was a kid back then, no wonder why he loves girls with glasses Shigyo - actually pretty fitting look for a Soul Reaper Saito - looks like more maniacal version of Hyori Obana - could the funniest of the bunch, but that would mean scary things for everybody Shijima - the more evil version Hanataro Izuhara - looks like calm and reasonable person, maybe the coldest of captains Shihoin - maybe the colder noble than Byakuya Yamamoto - the only one who looks like an actual Samurai

9th divison guys blade kinda reminds of ea from fate maybe instead his will work like a drill or club

Captain of the 13th Squad makes old Yama look young. I am insanely interested as to how that got into the Gotei 13...

I feel like if a bleach game, with a custom character main protagonist, were to be made it would be a nice fit in the first generation captains era. If they would also like to replicate substitute soul reaper story going back in time to explore more of the world would be cool.

Man I wish we knew more about them. I hope Kubo comes up with a 200 pages one shot manga describing their power in an adventure. I also wonder who the Kidoshu captain was at time (if there was one). Plus I'm expecially curious to know more about the 13th squad commander. Nowadays Yamamoto is the oldest, but at that time, when the gotei 13 were "nothing but a bunch of murderous thugs", there was that man way older than his peers. This notion intrigues me to a non sleeping degree.
