FIRST FIVE-SECOND V-TWIN NITRO HARLEY? IN DEPTH FEATURE OF HISTORIC MUST-SEE SUPERCHARGED DRAG BIKES

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Two of the coolest, most unique motorcycles you will ever see are the hand made, supercharged Nitro Harley, “The Gunslinger” of Ohio’s Jason Pridemore and the marvel of engineering known as “The Beast” all the way from Sweden, ridden by Tommy Grimes of North Carolina. In this video we watch as Pridemore aims for history and world records, striving to be the first Nitro Harley racer in the five second zone at the biggest race of the year, the Man Cup Drag Bike Finals from South Georgia Motorsports Park. We pick up the action during Jason’s second-round bye run and follow him all the way to the final where he must face his future brother in law, Grimes. What a tough day for his sister Rachel Pridemore. We then go back to the pits where Jason gives us more inside information and cranks up the bike with Michael Balch, nitro tuning legend John Alewine and many others looking on.
We also address the remarkable v-twin five second run of Finland’s Jaska Salakari and explain how the traditional “Harley” five is different. Pridemore’s machine is a 45-degree motor with pushrods, aka traditional Harley architecture where Jaska has a different angle and overhead cams. Both are very impressive, but are in different categories.
Jay Turner and Tak Shigematsu are also picked by many to run the first Harley five. They both use Pro Chargers while Pridemore uses a screw blower. Let’s us know your thoughts on these amazing machines and who you think will be first.

I love the way Cycle Drag shows the rider as a person, not something to ignore as just a bump on a machine. These guys ride with the possibility of being maimed or killed. Please give them some love and respect. It's not just all about the bike.

To see consistent 5 sec runs in the push rod Harley category, were gonna need a breakthru in head technology. The cubic inches are plenty to get the job done. The issue is moving all that nitro in and out of the motor. I think a conventional fueled Harley or one running a mix with methanol, turbo instead of a supercharger, would stand a better chance at consistent 5 sec runs over the nitro bikes. Back in the day they needed the nitro and the blower to go that fast. Today with methanol, turbo and some trick heads I see much more that can be accomplished. Maybe there needs to be a new class and some re-writing of what Top Fuel really means.
