This is by far the best show of how to play the Osmose. Fearless, creative, full of wonder, and most importantly… Musical. This was a joy to listen to, and it grabs on the ethos of the Haken Continuum… Let the patch speak to you~ I’m also glad you did not put the name of the preset. This video presentation really keeps us using our ears as we wait for our Osmose to arrive.

Thanks a lot for the very kind words, and for finding a good excuse of my laziness (very simple little editing, lighting and camera work). But I'm also a defender of videos not getting in the way, but trying to tell a certain truth. Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy your Osmose as much as I am :)

You are amazing! What an inspiration you are. My mom (who passed in 2022) was a natural player-musician like you are...She couldn't read a note on paper but could play in any key and her song selection was unlimited. Your gift has made my heart smile :) Thank you, Mathew, for sharing FYI...her name was Joy for a reason.

Thank You very much. That magic feeling I had during those first few hours was quite unique, and each time I use it, the same things happen. I such a revolution for a pianist like me to at last have a ton more expressiveness and not lose too much of the keyboard feeling. It's sometimes frustrating because I would require a few hours of practice a day to get it just right (mainly pitches), but straight out of the box you can really get amazing results.

I have one. Great job showing us how to play it. I'm real curious how two of these could interact so I ordered a second one. Picking two complimentary voices could really get deep, thick and full blown. I'm sure a future Osmose generation will contain two brains but at this price point buying two isn't that crazy. I did MIDI it up to a ASM and stage boards which can complement it with a touch of backing whether strings or pad etc. I was playing with the arpeggiator and it shut down and rebooted so that's bad news. It wasn't the power supply or connection seemed tight. Only happened once but I was freaking out. Shutting down is not an option during a gig. Never liked those silly adaptors not sure why but to save $50 instead of an actual internal supply and real socket. Pro gear shouldn't power this way and yet they still do it even though it's obviously a no no. That's design feature number one. Then there's no USB SS saving port option. Why not? I do not want to use a computer EVER except for OS updates. IF you look at most major manufacturers and they all have the obvious USB port save option and internal power why not follow their lead? They did it for a good reason. It's not like you are outsmarting them so don't do dumb things. Needs the obvious transpose button. Sometimes the portamento/slide icon doesn't show up so the system is unreliable. They need to stabilize the OS and fool-proof it. I have a feeling we are the "beta testers". I hope they can fix everything. The next generation will be far better. Just my opinion. Also the portamento or slide is turned on for numerous voices and with a full octave slide. It can be very annoying if you have to turn those off everytime or adjust it continuously. With only 128 user slots that won't touch editing even half the voices. Either they must be made editable, not sure that can happen currently, or you have to like it the way it is. Or you have to change the voice every single time you use it. Just common sense stuff I'm not sure how they overlook. IF a voice is highly editable and there's 500 or more you must provide a means to the workflow and make it easy, simple and fast. Why wouldn't you? I'm not a fan of complexity and time consumption and repetition, I like to do it once and forget it.

Live and learn - I'll pick one up sometime. If it's half as inspiring as the music I've heard here in your video it will blow my mind! That bit around 38:35 REALLY reminds me of W. Carlos stuff - superb, sir! That's quite the "Key Pit" you have there haha - will you toss out some other gear now that you have your Osmose? Looks like you have some well-loved gear there. P.S. You showed amazing restraint by not playing any Mario tunes with the patch at around 1:03:20. Not sure I would have fared as well! Thank you for sharing this - I feel almost like I snuck into a private show or something. Fantastic playing!

Thanks Pete, yes love at first touch, that's for sure, and it's a beauty to the eye too (which I never thought affected me). The classiness of it's design imposes us to respect it, and it's faithfull sensitivity deserves us to treat it with equal sensitivity. It was actually quite a mystic sensation sometimes. I'm really bad at selling gear, and I don't think the osmose covers up any other synth anyway. I don't have many polysynths, and most of my midi controllers are mainly for live gigs (that also come in useful in my spaceship). I'm not sure about using the osmose for many gigs yet, at least not for all the noisy messy gigs I do :) Thanks for the kind words, and I do hope you'll enjoy the osmose sometime in the future

been wanting one of these since I found out about it. most of these sounds I'd consider "funny." Cheesy, not very serious sounds. Like sounds like Crispin Glover music or something from Doug. But I guess that just means there's room for making more serious sounds. Does make me a little nervous that the sound engine isn't up to the task, but I guess there's no shortage of fantastic MPE compatible synths it can be used to control.

Awsome, mine should also arrive soon. I am disappointed at the fact I mostly ear physical modeling (in all other osmose videos also) sounds and very little “traditional” synth sounds. Eagan matrix is powerful toool to do any kind of sound and of course with mpe physical modeling really comes alive but I really hope they introduce more different sounds to it or at least let users share their own patches in a pool. nice playing ::)

Hi, yes I'm sorry about my sound selection, I used the "acoustic" sub genre while browsing the sounds for the first hour (at least), so I do agree that it's not very representative of the extent of sounds delivered. I wasn't really meaning to show the sounds, mainly trying to express the "feeling" of this new keybed from a simple pianist point of view.

  • @mtyas

I had very little differences in sound levels (much less than on my ContinuuMini). It's normal to have the sensation that they are different, because the sound are so expressive, and programmed differently (assigning the velocity, 1st pressure, second pressure to so many different options), that it's hard to keep them in the same range. But I find they've done an amazing job on that front. I used the same gain, very little if not none volume changing during the whole performance of this video, so that shows you a bit the consistency.

It is a setting called pressure glide that interpolates between 2 pitches within a set range, allowing full control of the speed of the glide or even holding it at a pitch in-between. It can be adjusted, or indeed shut off. It is one of the coolest features.
