First Fall On My New Horse | GoPro Fun Ride | Riding With Rhi, UK Equestrian YouTuber
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
This week, Woody and I headed out on our first outing, a fun ride with the GoPro. I unfortunately took a tumble and I take you through what happened and what I'd have done differently if I did it again.
NB: Neither of us were badly hurt and there were no injuries. Woody is 100% fine and so am I

Aww bless you 🥺I teared up for you being brave and considerate enough to share this. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we all have to experience these things to learn from them. I think given that most horses are usually so sure footed that when they do trip and fall over it is such a shock to the system. Open fields still remain my underlying fear out hacking after a sideways spook that ended in me breaking my leg and dislocating my ankle. I’m in awe of your determination to stay strong and put it behind you. You are so kind to share this wishing you a good recovery xxx

When a horse breaks a leg sometimes the bone can cut their blood vessels so Down the rest of the leg there would be no blood supply the leg and the tissue can die
The couple and the dog that helped you were so sweet!!

This is very true. I was in a very bad jumping accident ( I wascrolled on) and I know the horse tried everything he could to avoid me. I tried to roll out of the way, causing him to trip over me and then he rolled back over me. I’m not sure who was more traumatised. Me or the horse

Yes a horse will not step on you if at all possible. They can see beneath their feet.
The dizzy and nauseous feeling is just shock and the distribution of excess blood to your vital organs. It’s just your bodies survival mode kicking in automatically. It passes after ten minutes or so. Always give yourself those ten or more minutes for your body to come back to normal.

Thanks. I was confused about that & the fainting. I presumed feeling sick and going into shock was a sign of a broken bone or head injury so I've learnt something new. 😀

I mean I know what u r saying but don’t think it’s wise to give medical advice unless u r a medical professional. You don’t know she could have epilepsy, diabetes and the sugar was very low, a broken bone or a head injury can cause that. I’m just saying this because I am a nurse practitioner and I have several chronic illnesses. I do have epilepsy, gastroparesis, lupus and diabetes. My fear is that I’ll have an issue with sugar or a seizure as I don’t take my medical service dog riding. I guess I’m too sensitive to the subject. I’m sure that the people she’s riding with also know if there’s any medical issues.

Thank you for sharing the fall. Horse's tripping over is one of my biggest fears after my horse tripping and rolling on top of me and no one ever really talks about falling off. People make it seem like its no big deal and if you get a bit worried or think you aren't 100% afterwards you are being silly, and should instantly jump back on with no issues. So thank you for sharing it in such a sympathetic and realistic light, and being able to take from the situation afterwards x

That’s so good how the dog walker was cautious about how you was feeling and when you fainted he was ready and helped you witch was good. Also woody is so sweet and he was good that he stopped when he noticed what happend good on woody!
So glad you and Woody are okay after that, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Thank you for sharing this, it’s not easy but you handled it well he looked like he was such a saint throughout the whole thing! This goes to show you never stop learning with horses 💕💕

Thanks for being honest and giving us the opportunity to learn from you as well! The horse community should speak more about that stuff.
Thank you for sharing this! You managed this all very well, and Woody was a very good boy for not taking off for parts unknown and for standing so quietly while you recovered. I'm personally not a very brave rider, and I appreciate your willingness to share moments like this.

I love that you mention you try and get things second hand too - it’s so true you can get such good quality things for a lot cheaper ! So interesting to watch even though was awful to watch you fall! Hope your feeling better now. Love watching your vlogs x
Thank you for your vulnerability! Glad that you were both ok and really big of you to take it as a learning experience 😚
Well done both of you! Glad your both ok x what a super horse you have found x
What a beautiful fun ride. Such lovely scenery...we all make mistakes. .we all fall off.. all part of the learning journey of riding horses.. you know many riders never hack out. As too scared. Just stay in arena. Very boring.😅😅 i have always loved hacking. Had young horses. Getting them used to seeing the big wide world. Used to all the scary things. Then its an absolute joy to hack. But there will always be something horses have neved seen. Like that statue...!! Glad you are both ok. Woody is a lovely horse. You are such an refreshingly honest lovely person. Enjoy watching yoyr journey together your so right. Not everyone is super confident jumping.. Takes time to build up that confidence trust and bond with horse and rider....for just ruding woody fir a month. I think you are both doung great together.❤❤

Well done for being so sensible about not getting back on, it is not nice when you fall off especially with that sick dizzy feeling after. Thanks for having the bravery to share! Xxx

The first fall frightened the life out of me, so no wonder you were so wobbly when you tried to get up! I’m so glad you didn’t try to ride back and that you had some wonderfully kind people nearby to help. I am also glad that you were brave enough to share the whole thing. It just goes to show that it can (and does!!) happen, but I’m really happy that you and Woody were okay x
Glad you're both OK It was a very good job you decided to be driven home Woody is lovely
You always learn from mistakes. The fact you don't let it effect your confidence and you reflect on experience is amazing
Glad you are both ok. Also very informative to look at how you handled the situation and your thought processes and how you would have handled it differently. Very brave to share thank you xx
Ooof, I feel for you, falls are the worst! That's so nice you had options of not having to get back on or walk far. Thanks for sharing, hope you recover quickly!
You are incredible, so well spoken and positive. Thank you for your honesty and allowing us to learn from your experience.
I love how he kept reassuring that is is okay to take your time, that it is more important to make sure you are ok than rushing things and that there is nothing to worry about going on or anyone throwing around any blame towards you/your horse for the fall. Great couple, amazing amazing amazing reassuring of a rider after a fall who is in shock and just "wants to get back on and keep going" in the back of the head. :D
Oh bless ya, thank you for sharing, so sorry about the extra shock of then passing out bless ya, that probably hurt more! Hope you're all good now xx
I really appreciate your sharing such a delicate moment. As horse riders this has probably happened to most of us. The fact that your are willing to share and help other riders learn as well is commendable. Thank-you and good boy Woody!
Bless you 🥺 what a great rider you are tho Rhi to know and understand what you thought you did “wrong” and know what you’d do next time instead!! I’m glad you’re okay though that looked like a nasty fall! Thank you for sharing 🥰
I felt so sorry for you and Woody, looked quite a bad fall for him also, you are inspirational how positive you looked at it all, what a fab horse he is 🤗
I 100% understand the dizziness as I felt the same when I feel off once and I luckily didn't pass out, so glad that both are okay and you both are amazing 💖
Glad your both okay ! What a lovely dog walker - you handled the situation really well rhi x
Ah it's horrible but we've all been there ❤️ glad you both are okay!
This is such a good video! The countryside is lovely , nice horses and people. It’s very helpful to watch videos from regular folks like so many of us are! It’s been a few years since I have done any serious riding, and my up and coming youngster is only 15 months, so I know the trepidation of those first rides out. I get nervous just watching these! Plus, the only people who don’t fall are the ones who don’t get on in the first place..so don’t feel bad ! Just happy that horse and rider are ok and can chalk that up to experience! Good job!😁
im so happy your alright and be carful when you get a new horse because he can be scared of some stuff you might not know off
Bless you, well done, it’s not great falling off, you’re doing a great job xx

Glad you’re both ok. What a lovely educational video which I am sure will help others when faced with split second decisions. You seem to be a very compassionate rider and you are going to have a fantastic bond with Woody. The people that helped you were very kind too. I have to tell you this though, because you brought back some distant memories for me. I am an old woman now and serious back problems meant I had to give up riding and I miss my mare so much…but many years ago i with my friend on her horse and a group of her friends on rented ponies went on a sponsored fun ride where we had a whale of a time and everyone we met was really polite and considerate as you said. The reason I wanted to tell you was we were one of the very first groups to set off but when we arrived at the finish the organisers were getting rather concerned as we were the very last to finish and they were asking other riders had they seen us and were trying to ascertain if we had had problems. We were quite a large group of riders and we had planned to make the most of our day so the organisers were getting feedback like “oh yes we saw them in the woods having afternoon tea” 😂 😂 😂 We managed to fit in elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea and tea along the route. Great day, horses thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did we…and we raised lots of money for our various charities too. Hope you enjoyed my little memory xxx
Glad you both are fine 😊
Well done for sharing such a difficult situation with us all, it brings home how important it is to consider our safety when there are so many scenarios to consider during a ride, and trying to enjoy the experience along the way.
