FIRST EVER DMC Delorean Factory Tour | Back to the future time

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Calling all Delorean Fans! Today, we get a private tour of the new Delorean production facility in Houston Texas. A huge thank you to @deloreanmotorco for letting us in and giving providing a tour.
The DMC DeLorean (often referred to as the "DeLorean") is a rear-engine, two-door, two-passenger sports car manufactured and marketed by John DeLorean's DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) for the American market from 1981 to 1983-ultimately the only car brought to market by the fledgling company. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and noted for its gull-wing doors and brushed stainless-steel outer body panels, the sports car was also noted for a lack of power and performance incongruous with its looks and price. Though its production was short-lived, the car became widely known when featured as the time machine in the Back to the Future media franchise.

several other Cars aren´t forgotten, and they haven´t been in any Movie..... so what? Don´t reduce the Car to a Movie. Sure, it helpfed it´s polarity. But this happended to the TransAm, Beetle, Countach, E-Type, Aston Martin, BMWs, and much much more Cars in Movies. I NEVER would have even thought of a Nissan Skyline, Fucking ugly as Hell and just an overpowered Saloon Car. So why the "Popularity" - YES, through a Movie.

Genuine question, if your DeLorean was parked up in a carpark full of other DeLoreans, how would you pick out your car?😯⚠️🤔😁 Just trying to imagine my Fiat Panda 4x4 Antarctica, white with a black roof and sicillian yellow door mirrors, parked up with many others like it and trying to figure out which is mine, maybe tapping on the key plipper seeing which ones indicators flash? ⚠️😁😊

In 2003 I moved to Houston. When someone told me that the DMC factory was here I was shocked. I drove over on my first day off and when I walked inside James I believe is the one that came out to greet me. I was there for a few hours and he gave me this tour while I was there. Just before I was headed out he invited me to sit in a car they had just finished rebuilding. It had a new car smell and looked like it had just driven off the factory line. Once I got out he shared with me that the car was going to a band member of Evanescence. That was the seal on the greatest tour I have ever had. Someday I will be able to walk in the door and buy my own Delorean.

The difference here is, they've been actually DOING something this whole time though. They've restored/repaired/etc. many dozens of cars as they've been fighting the battle with the NHTSA that only just got resolved in January of THIS year. FINALLY!! Only now are they finally, legally allowed to be a 'low volume' manufacturer of 'vehicles that resemble cars of 25 years ago or more'. They literally passed legislation back in 2015, but only this year did they write up and pass the rules to allow small makers / manufacturers to be able to apply for and market/sell their creations. Now it's time! :D We'll see what happens. I think they'll be getting them out the door by this time next year if not sooner. Here's hoping!

Amazing such a cool, mediocre car has such an awesome following 40years later. If John could see this he would probably cry. Despite problems, he was a brilliant man who had a huge impact on cars in our lives. Not just this beautiful machine. Loved it when it was new, will love the car and story 40 years from now. So great it has been kept alive. Great legacy, wish mine was half of what his is and will be.

I think Delorean cars were way ahead of their time! I hope they can keep that legacy by making a very fast Electric vehicle that is worthy of the Delorean name.

Fantastic to see Stephan and his team preserve this marque.i think the next natural progression would be an EV version of the De Lorean to keep the theme going.

What a Cool place. I heard of this plan many years ago but it seems they will actually be able to build ”new” deloreans there now. What a time capsule.
