FIRST DROP! Slow Pitch Jigging Deep Water Queen Snapper! (Catch/Clean/Cook)

In this episode I had out on a spur of the moment trip aboard our 28' Freeman. We grabbed the NickStick's (and some other rods) and a pile of slow pitch jigs. We ran offshore for 45 minutes and on the very first drop hooked up! It wound up being the target species and was a beautiful queen snapper! We fished a few more hours and caught a couple jacks before heading back to Bud n' Mary's Marina. Back at the marina I clean the fish and take it to PR Cafe to have it cooked up! They make a delicious fish sandwich as well as a couple basket of friend fish nuggies! Enjoy! #Fishing #queensnapper #slowpitchjigging #freemanboatworks #28Freeman #yamahaoutboards #garminmarine #BlasterProducts #HHInsurance #PennFishing #pennfleet #budnnmarysmarina #stanzfishing #TigressOutriggersandGear #powerpole #smithoptics #mustadhooks #mustadfishing #yetiambassador

    When using a slow pitch stick, don’t pump. Aim the stick towards the fish and steady grind. Let the parabolic stick do what it was designed to do and you’ll lose less fish. 🤙🏾

    I have recently subscribed and find your videos the most entertaining of the various fishing video options available on KZread. I live in The Bahamas (Grand Bahama), so videos on your various trips to the Bahamas are of particular interest to me, but the wide variety of locations visited and species targeted keep things interesting and make for enjoyable viewing. I also like to cook, so the cooking part of your videos are an excellent compliment to the on-the-water adventures. And, although my children are long since grown, I find the family atmosphere and the integral part your children play in the StanzFam videos to be an important part of why your videos stand out from the pack. That said, I must admit to having been disturbed by your stone crab catching videos. The information quoted below appears worded different ways and in a variety of places, but here is a quote from the Nassau Yacht Haven Marina Blog that sums up what I think of as the 'enlightened' attitude to the stone crab fishery: "Stone crab claws are one of the most expensive items of seafood you can consume. They are a delicious delicacy. Part of why they are so expensive is the cost of harvesting them is also very expensive. The process is time consuming and only one claw per crab should be taken at a time, although if both are of legal size, they can both be harvested. It would leave a crab with no means to defend itself, so hopefully those in the business, respect this. It takes approximately 3 years for a crab to grow a claw of legal size. Another reason for the price." (www.nassauyachthaven.com/blog/time-to-talk-about-crabs) There are stone crabs in The Bahamas, although there is no organised fishery for them of which I am aware. But sustainability is an issue for many fisheries (spiny lobster and conch in The Bahamas for instance). There is also the more humane issue of harvesting both claws and leaving the animal defenceless. What I found particularly disturbing in one of your videos was you catching a crab with only one claw - presumably caught previously by someone who followed the 'harvest only one claw' idea. But you proceeded to remove the one remaining claw, leaving this survivor of an unfortunate previous visit to a crab pot without the single claw someone else thoughtfully left him. FWIW, perhaps you should reconsider your harvesting process and leave the crabs you catch with a single claw - only half as many crab claws for your table of course, but happier crabs with a better chance to live and thus to reproduce, helping to sustain the fishery for the future. My thoughts anyway.

  • @StanzFam

    @StanzFam

    4 ай бұрын

    Conventional reels usually face up and the guides are typically facing up, but some of the newer rods have spiral wrapped guides, the first guide is straight up and the tip will be straight down, with the guides inbetween spiraling down the blank. Conventional reels are most right handed but some are left. Spring reels usually face down and the guides will be down on the rod, the handle can be on any side, but usually on the left as the right hand of a person is usually the stronger arm.
