It’s not possible to at every school! I couldn’t my first year and then my second year they didn’t want me doing it either. I am glad I can show what I can now!

I really enjoyed your first day. Awesome!! I like the way you pointed out good behavior. It makes them feel good and the other students will copy. I was in the classroom for 28 years. I spent 21 years teaching second grade. Simply the best. You totally rocked!!!

Love love love your motto on not doing class rules and such on the first day. I do the same, I find it easier once you’ve had some conversations on values and established relationships a bit more. I find it gets you more but in. Also watching you teach is so fun! Thanks for the inspiring content ☺️

Glad you have a great first day of school! I looked at the wishlist last night... anything in particular that you need right now for your classroom? Tell John we say "hi" and hope you enjoy living in Las Vegas. I'm not sure when Mike's conference is... usually June. Maybe if they have it (covid canceled the last couple), we can take you guys out to lunch. Red Rock Canyon Nature Preserve is awesome and super eerily quiet. One of my favorite places. Valley of Fire is also a really cool day trip through the mountains. Lots of petroglyphs that are really cool! I, too, love the mountains and palm trees in Las Vegas. It's unique, weird and beautiful. I think I am all caught up on your videos. Our microwave went out 4 days ago and we bought a new one yesterday and started installing it, which meant a couple cabinets had to be emptied. I turned on your channel and clicked "Play Channel" so I could do my part to help fund the classroom. After getting the kitchen back together, I downloaded your Meal Planner template and started planning meals for the week. Thanks for the template. Let me know what you need for your room. I'll get it ordered for you.

All the children must have been pre-enrolled by parents with all the usual required info since your school began without parents coming on the first day. Having the children not go to their classrooms first was a different approach. I'd be a little uneasy trying to gather children I didn't know yet from a huge group on the playground. I'd be worried some would get lost in the group since they wouldn't know me. The kids seemed as if they were enjoying listening to those first read-alouds. Your school is very supportive of the teachers, I can tell. That makes a huge difference when you're supported.

We had a meet the teacher so the kids could see me! The first and second day with teachers in the courtyard was not bad at all. Hard for kids who didn't come to meet the teacher. We all had signs with our name, and pictures, and other adults were there helping guide kids to their teacher. I also agree --- the support is HUGE

the low woods don't need any adjusting to in my experience! the high woods might take time if you aren't someone who wears heels!

I always wonder, how are you compensated for what you present in your content? I hope it' s worth it to you cuz just like the other "teachers" I've studied, your videos are as transparent as the glasses you wear.

What's your consequence for when a student doesn't quiet down after you ring the bell? I like the idea of getting one for my classroom

If they don't meet the expectation they lose the privilege! I have them sit out for like two minutes. Then if they don't meet the expectation, they get an alternate activity (AKA paper or a book)

I just asked the kids. Some schools I think you do. Usually if kids are not allowed to have soda, they tell you!
