It may actually be best that you have to start school online first. I graduated from Paul Mitchell and I must say the classroom portion was really boring. Learning online you can go at your own pace and you actually may remember some of the stuff lol

Hey I had an virtual interview with one of the paul Mitchell schools in Houston , she told me they mostly focus on hair but I’m more into nails and eyelashes and makeup , do you think going to paul Mitchell would be a waste and to keep lookin or should I consider it?

Aaliyah Moore Paul Mitchell also has an aesthetician course which focuses more on make up and skin care. I know the one in my town offers a night class specifically for nails but none of the courses at the Paul Mitchell I go to offer any education on lashes as a part of a course. I had to pay for my lash certifications separately

I’m in high school, last year i was a freshmen. I’m taking cosmetology so when i graduate i’ll have my license... the stuff you’re doing i completed. idk why but i find it amazing! I hope your school year goes great!!💕💕

Shaniah u’ll have to go thru beauty school and take your state boards in order to get licensed. You need 1500 hours. But you will have hours to take with u if u go right into it after u graduate high school. If u graduate high school early, you could get licensed as early as 16 years old. Keep it up! 👍

Nacira I’m from texas so the hours differ & my senior year i take my state board test, so i won’t have to do any more schooling after high school unless my hours are not up to par or i’m trying to go into more depths other than getting my license. i won’t have to go to beauty school bc i’m already basically doing it right now.

Eva Metz i dont mind at all! it really depends on where you live and what school you go to. in my area there are highschools (like mine) that allow you to go to regular school and participate in the cosmetology program so by the time you graduate you have your license. if you don’t have high schools that offer that i would suggest looking to cosmetology schools in your area and seeing the requirements for enrollment.

I’m at Paul Mitchell.. It can get tough sometimes but just make sure u keep up with your time. Try not to miss any hours.. it’s kinda difficult but if you do be sure to make it up. We went into hybrid after the whole corona virus so now we shift from virtual to actually going in every other day. I was supposed to graduate the 11th of this month but now it’s October. Just stay focused! And do all u can to start preparing for State Boards ahead of time. Good luck! 😉

aww so many memories with that milady book lol. i went to a trade/vocational hs & cosmetology was my trade ! i'm glad that although your program is online you still get to go to the school in-person each week bc the theory (textbook) work can really be done at home. its the practical experience that needs to be in-person. fyi - the most challenging chapter for me (& most cos students) was ch 6 - anatomy & physiology && ch 8 - skin diseases & disorders but good luck :)

Agreed, I started in person a little over a year ago at Aveda and just graduated online in June. Going to school online is definitely more convenient but you lack so much hands on experience when it comes to cut , professional color, perms, etc. And not being able to practice for state board is terrible! I honestly think anyone who wants to attend COS or Esthi school should wait until they can attend in person. These expensive schools will take your money and give you a sub-par education.

haii! did you have to work in a salon for a min. amount of hours to be licensed or was it enough that you get online classes, practice online and took the exam? I'm asking cuz I'm considering starting online but not sure how it would actually work... (I live in Europe tho so getting licensed is probably different from getting licensed in the us but yeah)

Im in cosmetology at my school and you can use the milady text book and it gives you like the book to get the answers and you can basically just go through it or use quizlet

I took the test in texas ..😊nothing to worry about...you can do it baby girl....take one chapter at a time.....practice yr practical.....pre bagg all yr things..never forget hand sanitizer and gloves.....be safe love ya....bless you..

cosmetology school is a trade school, meaning it’s a whole separate school focusing on hair makeup and nails. there’s different programs you can do but from what you said you would do the cosmetology program which is everything.

This is literally how I will be doing with my online classes I think is better you still have to woke up early so you have time to finish your work but I think is less stressful to deal with people sometimes teachers and you also have time to be at your home relax and don’t be the stressful this year I feel good doing online so that’s why I decide to do it this year too my junior year ❤️🥰
