Journey McLean I wasted 3 years on an asshole like this. Wasn't with 6 of my friends, but 1 is enough. I was 17 when I gave up everything for this guy. I'm now 21 with a severely broken heart and messed up head. I, too, thought I was lucky and found "the one" at such a young age. This song definitely hits the nail on the head.

Even though this song is about the loss of a 1st love, this song for me cuts deeper. It got me in my feelings and completely broke me down. On March 30, 2020, I lost my uncle, Charles "Chuck" Harris to Covid-19 (AKA Coronavirus). He was the glue that held my mom's side of the family together. My mom grew up in a family of 10 siblings (4 boys, 6 girls). Uncle Chuck's death was the 1st time she's lost a sibling and to hear her cry the night he passed cut me like a knife cause when she hurts, I hurt. He's left behind a lot of siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandkids. We're all reeling from this and we're all leaning on God to get us through this difficult time right now. This disease is real. I don't like what it's done to my family and countless others. If you've never had anyone impacted by this, count your blessings. I pray you never have to suffer like I am. For those who have lost someone, you have my love, prayers, and support. This cut is deep, but God above along with the love and memories are gonna help you to heal. 🙏🙏🙏

A traumatic experience seers into your memory and is never forgotten unless blocked out which isnt psychologically healthy either. Some women date a bad man and swear off men. Some people have a bad experience at a restaurant and never go back. Some pains never go away. Know pain. Know gain. - thats why you try to love again. Because we all want to know love and be loved without the wounds. But some people arent strong enough to get past the first wound and stay scarred for life. Remember the movie the Golden Compass? Where they were cutting demons and dust away from children they were experimenting on. They were cutting away their souls but did not understand that thats what their demons were in that alternate universe. Because the golden compass wasnt a direction teller, it was a truth teller.
