OMG! Seriously excited for this moment. I've wanted a CNC mill for years, and though I'm a total noob and have SO much learning ahead of me, I'm stoked my Milo Mill actually works!

Your giggle of delight gave me a giant smile. We all remember our first chips as well. A couple things, your feed and speed gave you great sized chips, don't expect the same size with aluminum. Your mill probably isn't ridgid enough to cut at that depth on aluminum. Corian was a great first choice for stock. Second, you'll learn to listen your mill cutting. What I heard, the sound changed in the upper left corner. I believe that's your stock flexing up and down due to the overhang from your vice. When you move to aluminum, you need to fixture differently and secure the corners. Congratulations on a successful first cut, get out the vacuum and hang your wonderful design on your "Wall of Fame".

Way to go! Once you get that set up maybe you can do a shop tour. I can't remember the last one, maybe you have done one recently, if so... nevermind. Thanks for the update Seon. Take care.

Once I get the enclosure finished, and I have my steel table here and I find a place to put this thing - I'll do workspace update, sure.

The Milo concept of the knee type milling machine is great. I am thinking of making a similar one with T slots

It's the LDO CASA kit - but it's not available yet.

Nice. How is the centring of the probe impacting the dimensional accuracy of the parts? I can see it affecting the location of the part but nothing to do with the dimensions, that is determined by your stepper control/accuracy well at least on anything CNC that I own.

Not in the pass you saw where it was calculating the stock position, but when I first calibrated the setup (not on video) and it used the probe to measure a 123 block, the rotation of the spindle will change the centre point of the tip, and there is no hold on the spindle when it's not spinning, so the probe can rotate slightly, changing the tip offset, and therefor effect the measurements.

I really want to try CNC after getting hooked with 3d printing(and building a Voron 2.4 350). I'm hesitant because I don't have a clue what extra tools I'm going to need. Theres vices and hold-downs and dial gauges. Is there some online courses or tutorials to learn the basics of all of this? Should I budget basically 2x the cost of the LDO kit for all the extra stuff?

Yes, this was LDO batch 2, which shipped out 220V motors to 220V regions.
