Seriously, all of your videos are excellent! I'm trying to optimize my JABOD forge this week, I agree that banging cold steel is frustrating. Thank you for all these great projects!

The cool thing about stuff like this is that you do it once and do it well enough even as a beginner and you have say your bottle opener for the rest of your life. :) . Could try to even make little cabinet handles I feel like those would be simple enough while still being able to be artistic.

Hey mate good to see you learning and not afraid to fail. A good tip i can give is to silicone your anvil onto its stand. It will stop it from jumping around so you don't have to chase it and also not lose energy due to your anvil jumping. Side bonus it can help to quiet an anvil. I have used it on my railroad track aso and it works a treat. I used sikaflex 11fc+ but any neutral cure outdoor silicone should do especially if it mentions dampening vibration.

Bro, we're gonna be best friends, I love watching you grow and experiment. I just got a Mr. Volcano gas forge and I have an Accio anvil just like that. As soon as I get off the rig I'm gonna try making what you just made if I can find some good carbon steel. You did great, I hope my first time goes this well.

Nice to see someone having a go. But if you keep working at that anvil with the hot cut installed, but not needed, you are going to cut your knuckles off!

This is perfect for me. I just finished my forge and anvil setup and was looking to start out by trying and making some tools I needed like the punch and the cutting tool. Loved the video and it actually helped me a lot.

Good job. Lots learned here. As a n00b blacksmith myself, I just want to comment about something I learned: if it ain't yellow, you're working to hard. Try to keep heating your metal more instead of hammering on cold steel.

Nice job! I do want to ask, what steel are you using? In the video, it looks like the steel you used for the hot cut hardy is the same as the steel you used for the bottle opener. If that's true, and it's some form of hardening steel, I'd recommend getting some mild steel for stuff like bottle openers and whatnot, since mild is cheaper and then you can save the other steel for more tools.

It was hardening steel. Very good point, that’s not something I had considered. Thank you!

Why do you keep ending videos with “mistakes” did you never listen to bob ross? “You don’t make mistakes you make happy little accidents” the only way you learn anything is by repetition not leaning on “mistakes”

I do that because I want to be honest with the people who are kind enough to watch my videos. If you watch a lot of videos like these, as I do, not many content creators point out mistakes. It’s simply the reality of making, we will make mistakes. If I can show someone that mistakes are ok, and we can move past them, then just maybe that someone will try something new. Great question, thank you for your comment!
