Hi, I have been watching a lot of your videos and they are very very informative. But can I ask a question regarding one of your videos which I cant find anymore - you were talking about someone who chose to work as MLA/technician instead of attaining certification - I dont remember this part well - but can I work as a medical lab technician in Canada while processing my application for the CSMLS exam? I am a certified/licensed technologist in my country. I would really like to work in Canada. Also is having an ASCPi license has benefits if I'll work in Canada?

Hi, thank you for your support. Yes, I talked about that in my firsr video. Some international MLT do work as MLA. Most of the time they have gone through education again and they did MLA course. Other times international MLT's also start as phlebotomist here while undergoing their process because it is not easy to get MLA job even as an international MLT. You might have to study MLA again.

Sometimes it is easier to get MLA job in smaller rural communities. That's something to try. I have seen that CSMLS does consider ASCP certification while they evaluate your PLA, but to what extent, I do not know. That information is found on their PLA evaluation table which shows how they determine eligibility to exam. You cal also contact them directly and ask that question. You might even be eligible for a temporary license to practice until you attempt your exam?

I dont know if it's really wise to take ASCPi when my target country to work in is in Canada. Honestly I really dont know if I am in the right path. Well since you are already preparing for it, you might as well go for it. I am pretty sure this will be cobsidered in your evaluation. I will only add that being a permanent resident or even a citizen doesn't make any exception, everyone has to go through the certification exam before working as MLT. Some get eligible to attempt the exam directly but some need more courses. You case will be unique to you because they will have to see how long ago you graduated, you experience and maybe even now your ASCPi exam. All this counts. So maybe contact CSMLS once you are done ASCPi and inquire about eligibility for the exam?

@@infomlt It looks like CSMLS have updated the PLA process... In the "Preparing for PLA Process" section, it only has 3 steps, not 4, as shown in your video. This Self assessment readiness tool appears to have been dismissed, I guess. Thank you very much for all the info shared!!

Well actually the CSMLS ID is only given to you after you pay for the fees. Threy email it to you. It is not the same as online accound. This is the ID that CSMLS creates for you as they start processing your application and will be used for further references to your application with them.

Hi, once they review your application and you have finished all requirements and is eligible for certification exam, usually they were giving 5 to 6 months to prepare.

Hello, usually startibg the process and gathering papers and can take up to 3mths and waiting for the CSMLS report to tell you your requirements and eligibility up to 6mths. Now after that, it all depends on your case. Some get directly eligible for the exam and thus within 1 year, the certification can be done. Or else, if you need some extra online courses to meet requirements, I would say another year or less depending on how fast you go through the courses. Overall, I would say from starting process to getting certified. 2 years sounds fair. During that time immigration can be done as well.

Hi, I just checked the MLPAO. Please remember that this exam is for MLA/Med lab technicians. In Canada, these are different scope of work as compared to the title of Medical Lab Technologist. But, if this is what you want to do while processing your CSMLS, then of course, it would be a good alternative and probable quicker.

Mam,as we can give CSMLS exam only in Canada, then how do I get my visa for the exam here from India...And which type of visa we need to get...And One more question can we come as a PR without holding CSMLS license through PNP programme?

Hello, yes you can still come through PR even if you have not attempted the exams. The process is ever changing, lately some provinces had been asking documents related to PLA, showing that you have actually started the licensing process. Please refer to the immigration website for updated info. As for visa info, it is better to contact visa information Canada for this. Good luck!

Hi, if you already have WES, make sure it is WES ICAP, and also if you had any other academic documents that you wanted CSMLS to consider for your evaluation. Otherwise, once yoy have a CSMLS ID, you can give it to WES and ask them to send your documents to that CSMLS ID. This means you can skip that step. Hi, I found the info in the PLA handbook under language requirements. CSMLS accepts both IELTS Academic or general. I would say just do general, then its both enough for immigration and CSMLS. Hello, you will get an ID once you pay for processing your PLA papers. If you want membership as well, this is up to you but even without membership, if you have all papers ready and pay the PLA fees, they will provide you with your ID which you will use for correspondance with then and for any institution that send papers to them, you will add that ID.

Yes, you can still evaluate everything through the PLA, then they will recommend any further courses before giving exam eligility

At the beginning, once you have done SART, you can download the MLT PLA handbook and fill it, it also includes a form about being associate non member with CSMLS, you can fill and return it online on CSMLS website. Please follow one step at a time. You will be able to get an idea by watching all the videos, it shows you exactly where to go on CSMLS website.

Hi, mostly courses that we get at work for our continuous learning, from CAP.org., CSMLS, also our licensing body SSMLT. All year round they offer courses that can contribute to continous learning and keeping our license.

Hi, please see list of approved colleges for MLT on CSMLS website. Any of these colleges will offer good programs, it depends in which province you plan to go and live.

Immigration and license are separate. You can even get PR and come here and still work on getting yr license. The reason you start back home is to get a head start.

@@maheshrajput4548 It actually depends in which province you plan to study. A quick answer right now is, Michener Institute in Ontario, Saskpolytech in Saskatchewan where I am. In Alberta, southern and Northern Alberta Institute of technology are also there. @@maheshrajput4548 I can check this out for you. But also, if I can give you my best advice. Always check your prospects for career in the province you plan to establish before attempting any course. Especially Master courses for MLT. Sometimes students spend a lot of money, specially if they are payinv international fees, only to find out that a master's in that field will not yield anything more in terms of career prospects. Let me find some more info Canada wide for you

Hi, if your education was done in english or french, you do not need language test. But if you have to do IELTS, minimum CSMLS requires is 5.5 in all sections.

To get evaluated for PLA IELTS general 5.5 is ok. To attempt exam IELTS 7.7. So if you are still lower than 7, it is ok for immigration and also to start your PLA. But to attemp exam they will need 7.

In Canada you will not be able to work as MLT without a certification. Exam can only be written in Canada
