Actually this match is the first 30-29 in World Championships history, not Men's single history. 30-29 first appeard in 2006.2 and at least 4 times in 2007.

It's already really intense 20-20 or 21-20. You need to have such a stable mindset and be able to stay calm in that situation to then go on and win the game. In badminton, usually after losing 4 points in a row, ie 4-0 most people will not have the mindset to turn back the game

No, whoever wins the point doesn’t automatically win the match. If Axelsem had won he would only have one the set, taking the match to a third game. Edit: leaving autocorrect typos in for posterity
