FIRST 15 Miles on Inline Tri-Skates // FRX 310 - What You Need To Know...

Ойын-сауық

I discuss my first 15 miles on the FRX 310 Entry-Level Urban Tri-Skate with 3x110mm wheels. It was quite an experience. After skating aggressive inline skates for about 20 years, this was quite a change.

    I stumbled across this channel after watching hours of content from Ricardo Lino, @thirtyandrollin, and @skating_squid, and there were a few things that stood out about your content (in a good way!) I'm not sure if you have a 2nd person filming with you or you just set up a tripod for the "fly-by" shots, but those shots were probably my favorite. The creativity to set those up and give us a mix of first- person and spectator pov is great, even in a short product review video. I also enjoyed the blend of honest commentary before and after the skate with the storytelling of the trail footage here, stopping to take out the sole insert and then explaining it later. The last piece that was great to see was the more creative and technical skating you did with the cement parking block slalom, hydrant hurdle, and smooth 180s at speed. Again, it told the story of the short maneuverable frames before you ever explained it in words. I just turned 40 and started skating again after taking 25 years off. Watching content like this pushes me to get out there and DO MORE! Now that it's been 2 years since making this video, what are your long term thoughts on the FRX310s? I've got a pair of Powerslide Swell 110s and love the quality, but after 50 miles on them, the fit STILL isn't right for me (too narrow). Let me know if you experienced any further issues with the break in of these. Great video, and I'll be back for more!

    Thank you so much for the detailed comment, seriously appreciate you taking the time. Overall I think they are great but unfortunately I just didn’t skate them much outside of the few videos I made here on the channel. Mostly because I couldn’t really get the fit dialed in, ironically I skated the FR UFRS with the same liner and they fit well.

    Nice review and some awesome skating sequences to show just what can be done on "beginner"/intermediate tri-skates - if you know what you're doing! I've got both FRX80 & FRX310 and wore out the wheels on the 80's so can testify to the solid construction, great wheels & bearings in particular. The only negative are the "pressed" loop buckles for the velcro straps. They can bend and the strap comes out. Be careful not to over tighten them. Otherwise great value.

    haha, oh man, i bought my first inline skate 2 days ago.. i am able to slow myself down, somewhat.. hehehe definetly need to learn how to stop properly, it's on my list! Anyway, riding these 125mm wheels was what i always was looking for, without knowing it. When i was a kid, there were no big wheels and always disliked aggressive skates because i prefer to just skate around, from the city centre to rural area's. From good roads to bad ones, well you know how it is. Aggressive skates were the ones i could borrow from a friend of mine, back in the days.

    If you would like a longer more stable wheelbase in a 110 wheel, check out the powerslide next Charcoal 110. With the combat rocker frame. It’s basically a 4X 90 wheelbase with 3X 110 wheels

Maybe we can do the 52 mile? Not finishing the full distance is my greatest regret in life... looking back I really couldn’t have gone on but I must avenge myself and finish it before I’m too old(I’ll be 50 in 12 years 😬)

They left me behind like I was standing still and I was pretty devastated because they were a fun group. We have plenty of years to make it happen. 💯

    I think the spaces in between the wheels are quite small, so in my case, my new K2 will have more space, hope handling is still good at higher speed. Need to go for 3 wheels because my 4x80mm skates are so horrible to speed up.

    Ben is being too modest; we trained 3 days a week doing in-line speed skating from January 2009-December 2010. He finished top 3 in his age bracket in an 89 mile marathon. He followed that up with 10 years of military. He’s an absolute beast! I’d recommend ingesting some “powerbar brand gels” while skating along with a banana after your first mile or two(even if you despise them!) That was what we trained with. Maybe try to do 5 miles three times a week for a month. After that, attempt the 10 miles again and you’ll breeze through it ;)

    Serious question: how do you avoid injuring your Achilles in terms of lacing up the boot? should you lace it tight or loose? or somewhere in between?

    Hey I'm completely new to this. How do I work out my size? I'm 9.5 UK sneakers. So are these skates bigger or smaller or what? Thanks

  • @ericbernardi8116

    @ericbernardi8116

    Жыл бұрын

    It's always best to know your foot length in millimeter and go for the mondopoint... These fit true to size, so you should be fine with a UK 9.5 (mondo 28)... Won't fit like sneakers though, will (and should) feel pretty tight at first... If you can, try on in a local skate shop... Don't judge size until you laced up completely and take skating stance with your shins against the tongue... No foot movement, feeling (almost too) thight and snug without any specific pressure point would indicate a good fit... If you buy too big you might be happy first but after they loosen up a bit say hello to pain and blisters 😅

    I've seen so many conflicting thoughts on the sizing. Did you order your shoe size or measure your foot? I wear a 12 but measuring my foot it says to get smaller, someone else said it fit small so get a bigger.. the sizes of all the skates I've been looking at is driving me crazy 🤪 🤣🤣 I'm between the frx and the rb cruiser pro x.. @Eric Bernardi they fit well. I can see what they mean when they say to size down if you get a skinny liner though. The frx have been really nice. I did sprain my ankle the first time I took them to the skating rink though🤣🤣 took 3 months and I was right back in my skates though. I also 100% believe the type of boot and the fact that I had them strapped tight saved my ankle from getting broken into bits
