FIRMAN Portable Generator: Home Backup Power - Is it Up to the Challenge?

I like big GENERATORS and I cannot lie Tee! 77a4af-3.myshopify.com/produc...
Merch here: 77a4af-3.myshopify.com/
We had an electrician come out and tie a 50 amp hookup into one of our electrical panels so we could use our generator as backup power in the event we lost power. It won't power the whole house or even the whole electrical panel but it will get us power for certain things when we absolutely need it.

    FYI: @6:27 If you are going to store gen. You should turn the dial to like 1pm so to turn gasoline flow off the dial and the carb float bowl will fully drain out it gen stops. then turn to 12 am/'pm off.

    We have used the kzread.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    According to the label on the side of the gas tank (and the wiring diagram), the max amperage at 240 volts is 31.1 amps for gasoline. That would be on the 50 amp 240V outlet. If you don't care about the 1.1 amps, you can use the 30 amp outlet, cable and circuit breaker.

    ⚠️Rules about generator safety: Please don’t forget to follow the generator safety tips when you use your portable generator. This is just a reminder to make sure. All generator safety rules need to be followed carefully whenever you use your portable generator. 1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards. 2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide detector if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house. 3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules. 4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2WetpV6fqi0pqw.html and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators Hope this helps

    Oh yeah! FOR SURE. A 7,600W generator is a pretty big generator. One half that size would power a fridge and some lights with utterly no issues and would have plenty to spare. At 7,600W you're talking about full house backup for most houses under 2,000sqft, including your AC if you have a soft start on it.

  • @walk.steady

    @walk.steady

    Жыл бұрын

    Noise isn’t terrible in our case with it being outside and lower than us. It is a loud machine though. As for the THD - I’m comfortable taking the chance. Our goal with it is lights and only what’s absolutely necessary. The risk/reward is there for us. Definitely a legit concern if you’re going to be using devices that are sensitive to that.

  • @bujin5455

    @bujin5455

    You really should put electronics you care about on a UPS. A UPS not only would keep things powered up while you start your generator, but it's a cheap way of providing line conditioning, and will protect your equipment from all sorts of dirty power, including brownouts that frequently come at the start and end of a blackout, as well as motor loads (which are pretty common in a house; motor loads introduce dirty power back onto the line). At 11%-14%THD you can run electronics (though it is hard on them, premature wear on their power delivery systems), BUT if you had a UPS in line it would be utterly no problem at all, and you really should do that anyway if you actually care about whatever it is attached to the wall. In my experience electronics last MUCH longer when they are attached to UPSes, as the power delivery circuits have less work to do to clean up the power.
