you are the firewood guy! your on point, i pester people exactly like that and that’s how i built my sales over 200 cords a season without any advertising. your operation is really streamlined but it seems figuring out how to load the wood quicker or without handling it would be quite beneficial, use to take me 30-45 minutes handchucking a cord, i chose a mini excavator with a thumb as my firewood tool and i can load a cord in 5-10 minutes and never touch it…the key is less hand touching of the wood in any phase of the process is time and energy saved…something for you to chew on!

I think the bigger principle is showing respect. Lack of respect always causes trouble, like cutting off other drivers, like forgetting your wife's special occasions, like snorting at your boss's ideas, etc. And, like ignoring customers! I think the trick for you is, regarding it as a virtue, rather than a bothersome chore. Maybe more important to your business than a processor, hyper speed, or banjo music!! Good vid! You're such a strong, silent type,...just like John Wayne, and Clark Kent!! Prob learned that from Tony, or Kenny!! All that texting makes you almost like a Bill Gates clone!! Speaking of, I'm wondering why Bill hasn't texted you about the firewood business. He prob knows by now, firewood is where the BIG money is!!

That's true! Last spring, when I discovered I was going to have to buy wood for the summer, I got on craigslist and called a few different guys. The first guy who actually answered his phone got the sale! (I was home for 2-3 days and was ready now) Luckily for me, it was the guy selling cherry! I've since found some others to try, too. Nothing against the first guy- just testing out the market to see what's out there. I'm only home a few days a month, and I like to come pick it up- so when I'm home I'm ready to come get it. So, as you say- answering the phone is important! I've since settled on a couple of favorites- inc the first guy. Plus 2 guys with stands, for in winter when my usuals close down. I have tons of free wood I can get, but if I want my cherry, or apple, or oak, or hickory, or a bunch of Ash, I have to go buy it. (my cooking wood)

Absolutely right. When I started buying wood for our bar/restaurant fire pit, I contacted no fewer than 10 ads on Facebook marketplace. It was 3 weeks before I got my first response. Actually, 3 responded. I ordered from all 3 and not one ever showed up or got back to me. It was 2 weeks after that before I got my first load and it wasn’t a “full cord” or ready to burn. Chris, you were the first video I watched when I searched firewood on KZread A month later, I bought my first saw and splitter, called a couple of tree service folks and had more wood than I know what to do with it. Now I’m hooked. Maybe I’ll start selling this fall. Thanks Chris for what you do.

Now on to the cold weather comments I think I might need to move up to your neck of the woods as I used to live in South Florida loved the heat and humidity played golf 3 days a week until it all stopped when I was diagnosed 6 years ago with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis or MS and I can't be in the heat anymore or work as I used to so I moved north to get out of the heat but I may need to go further north cause I feel so much better in the cooler temps these days. Too be honest when I watch your videos when your in the cold temps your having working as hard as you do it makes me feel better but I do have sympathy for you wanting the warm up to happen up there as it will come soon and then I will be watching when your ranting about how Hot it is.... hahahaha Have a Great Day in the Woodyard!

As a preteen in the early 60's Mom used to tell us kids If you are too cold, you are not working hard enough 😃 Another very useful production , very good job. The only other thing I might add; Instead of a generic sales receipt get custom receipt s made up that they will save because the backside had useful information that they can utilize in the future about you and the service you provide. They may even give it to a coworker ,neighbor or a family member , It's cheap advertising

Yep. I do the same thing when I am selling freezer beef and bee hives. I check in a few days after they get their beef. Have you grilled any steaks yet. I want feed back of how I did for them. I want their sale next year. If I sell a bee hive. I check in that night. Making sure they were installed, because they can't wait. When I am selling wood. I ask how did that Osage orange burn. If the weather is bitter. I ask is it ok if I bring this type of wood blended in. I think you need this type to heat with. I ask questions like how is your D.S. son doing. If he is there. He wants to be a preacher. I ask him how his Sunday sermon was. It's just little things that set you apart from everyone else

How long ago did you record this video? Is it still that cold there. An hour north of Toronto Canada and we have been cutting the lawn for 3 weeks now. It was 80 to 85 degrees last week and suppose to be 80 again tomorrow.

The most important thing in life is communication, this goes for more then one thinks! Communication is key to success in marriage, business and life! Be open and willing in all aspects of life remember we are all accountable for our actions and lack of communication!

@@InTheWoodyard it is something I have lived by my whole life, along with “ don’t make any mistakes today, that you can’t live with tomorrow” Have a great day Chris, and please stop by our channels, PEACE Fennessy and Gettin’ there Pat f, I think you may find something you like on them! If you like to eat, the first channel ( mostly shorts) is food and stuff, the second is my channel of heating our house with firewood, chainsaws, splitting, storage solutions for a small lot home, & family.
