I can really understand about the performance aspect of speaking a foreign language! I have some French ancestry and I've studied so much French, for years, yet I'm quite shy about speaking it. (This made it difficult for me to learn in college classes!) Lately, I've been practicing by a daily read of "Le Monde" and then I look up some new French terms each day. I really appreciated this conversation about language and ancestry today. And I would also really love to learn Irish Gaelic.
