I just read the wiki article on Fireball Roberts, a fellow Floridian. His death was a bad way to go, and this 1964 race was going to be his last before retiring to pursue a different career. It also led to a bunch of racing safety regulations, fire-resistant uniforms, special fuel cells, etc.
