Firearms licensing: the police view - FieldsportsChannel Podcast, episode 78
Спорт
Three firearms licensing officers came to the stage of the Carter Jonas Game Fair Theatre in July 2023 to make the case to Charlie Jacoby for how well they are doing. You may agree or you may disagree with them. They are Chris Downs from the Metropolitan Police, Adrian Davis from Warwickshire Constabulary and Paul Quinton from Essex police.

Good on them on being willing to do this. Can't be an easy job in the first place. I think the less them and us we are, the better it will be all round. Fair play to them.
Good outreach from Firearms Licencing, and great to hear their viewpoints.
Are they saying stress equates to depression?
It's a Shame devon and Cornwall were not present

Probably cos there too busy dealing with our 36 thousand certificate holders! Compared to just 9 thousand in Warwickshire.

We've been waiting over 18 months and we live in Dorset. Our instructor is still in a temporary licence. It simply isn't good enough!
I like what police said
There was nothing to stop them continuing visits during covid. Plenty of services and companies managed it.
im trying to get my shotgun cert and been to doctors for the form to be signed been told they dont do it but there is doctors on line that will yes for fee 85 quid BASC say they can get it for 55 quid but my concern here is were will my medical records end up in the future ie on the net people phoning me about my age pension and so on. why is it so hard to get this off my doctor . so its not just the police that slow this down
Experience with Essex has been great. 36 days SGC, 6 days FAC.
There was mention of civilian/citizen helpers. Can those folks be used now to allow more time for the police that are qualified to focus on processing applications, renewals, variations, etc?
I applied (grant SGC) June 2022 met with the FEO in April and haven’t heard anything since and I can’t get ahold of them and neither can BASC , I assume they have rejected me or can’t get hold of my doctor but I haven’t heard anything , my friend had his meeting with the FEO after me and it took 4 weeks and that’s Wiltshire
Good that the second guy concedes that when it goes wring its generally the police's fault and the shiiting community suffer for it.
The one in the middle really irritates me
There was noone on the streets during covid so what were you doing?
It is absolutely absurd for the 2 senior officers Essex and Warwickshire to say; “ I expect my Licence To come to me without issue….” Of course it’s going to come to you! Because you’re part of the status quo involved in the grant system and Licencing. It’s frankly insulting and arrogant to suggest that there would be a problem…….
Excuses excuses dont give them airtime.
