    The story behind the bullet proof pan in pubg is an interesting one. The player community asked the devs why a pan couldn't whack a grenade out of the way with the shape it had. Well the devs loved the idea and implemented it, However in the process of giving the pan a collision with projectile code they didn't realize it also applied to bullets. The community discovered this and by the time the devs found out, it was to late to remove it without a huge amount of community backlash. The game now has a loading screen top that says "real pans don't block bullets, we tried so you don't have to." The pan has since become an in community joke as level 4 armor. A joke the devs acknowledge when you unlock the pan charm/trinket attachment for a gun. For those wondering just how indestructible the pubg pan is, it will stop every bullet fired at it, I have yet to see it tested in game against the 50c Lynx AMR that will shoot through the heavily armoured BRDM.

  • @Ktjnn

    @Ktjnn

    2 жыл бұрын

    yeah, I agree. Jonathan mentioned the built in flash hider on the K2, but the muzzle flash and adding the attachments in game to reduce it is a core gameplay mechanic.

  • @PhoenixOfArcadia

    @PhoenixOfArcadia

    2 жыл бұрын

    Pretty much. From the guns shown off: SLR's flash hider changes based on the muzzle device attached (suppressor, muzzle brake, and flash hider), default upon is 10 round mags (hence the reduced size) but can be upgraded to the traditional 20 round ones. Charging handle's permanently extended likely just for animation simplicity. Thompson has the Cutts Comp. attached by default when used without the suppressor, normal M1928 sights are there when not using a red dot or holo, and as other suggested it's possible PUBG's model might be based on a Civilian reproduction which is closed bolt unlike the original M1928s. K2 was nailed in that the flash hider is removed and is simply changed based on what muzzle attachment the player puts on. The details on the Beryl, namely the magazine, is due to the fact that the rifle in game is meant to be the M762 variant, not the normal wz. 96 Beryl used as standard by the Polish Army. As the name (and magazine) implies the M762 is in 7.62x39mm, using standard 7.62x39mm AK mags. The Win94's scope was added quite some time after it's release as a buff to the weapon, which if you pay attention to minor detail's you'll see the empty shells do get kicked out through the scope body, simply because the weapon was not originally animated with the scope. It's also why the scope only looks period-esque and isn't all that finely detailed. The M1897 being referred to as "S1897" in game is largely due to how many of PUBG's weapons were labeled. "S" being for shotgun, and the only other shotguns in the game at the time was the S686, an over-under double barrel, and the S12k, a Saiga-12. Pistols also follow a similar naming convention, as the Beretta 92, the Glock 18c, and the M1911 are referred to as P92, P18c, and P1911 respectively. The two Revolvers, the Russian contract 1895 Nagant and the Chiappa Rhino are the R1895 and R45. The MP5k, as another commenter mentioned, seems to have been based off of a civilian PTR pistol build, which would explain the length. The lack of a handstop is likely done so that any of the type of grips, such as the angled, will actually be able to fit without clipping. As far as I can remember, the M24 didn't originally have the small blade front sight when the game first released. That I believe was added at some point when the gun became a world spawn rather than a crate exclusive item. When it was in the crates it never needed any sort of sights on the gun as it would always be spawned with one from said crate.

A Google search makes me think it's actually the p90 tri rail variant thats in pubg. Also, fun fact he missed (or maybe this is a small difference between the p90 tactical and ps90, small notches in the frame to the left and right of the picatinny adapter can also be used as backup iron sights in a pinch. So the p90 tactical and ps90 have 3 sets of iron sights.

    Some notes for Jonathon: - Thompson picatinny adapter 3:30 - Those do exist for Kahr Arms/Auto Ordnance modern semi-auto reproductions of the Thompson. The repros have the rear sight held in place by four screws instead of being riveted in place, so you could replace the rear sight with the rail and vice versa (or do something weird and put a Lyman sight on an M1A1). - Daewoo K2 6:15 - A distant cousin of the AR-15 but maybe a closer cousin to the AR-18. - Winchester 94 9:13 - Probably the only standout is that (like the SLR) the bolt doesn't move far enough when cocking the gun. Even on pistol caliber lever actions, the lever throw and bolt movement is quite a lot in my limited experience. It's possible it could've had a short stroked modification for Cowboy Action Shooting, but as you said with the suppressed Thompson, the developer likely didn't know or didn't care. - Winchester 1897 action/slide bar 11:50 - I've seen some (not all) examples with model markings on the slide bar. - AR500 frying pan 15:43 - I'm sure there would be people that would buy it, even if it's just for the novelty. Wonder what the weight would be.

    This would make sense, as it's also the reason many don't use the suppressor attachment on bolt action rifles like the Kar98/M24/Mosin, as getting kicked out of ADS when you're too close to a window frame/wall is a thing, and the suppressor makes that exceptionally more noticeable. So the DP's reduced length would absolutely make sense here.

    Somebody has probably already mentioned this but i can't find it, the P90 receiver in this game is what was marketed as the P90 TR. This had a different upper receiver to the standard model that couldn't fit a Ringsight and just had a length of pic rail on the top with a short section on each side (TR stood for "tripple rail"). This predates the P90 Tactical you have there, where the realised that it was far simpler and cheaper to just make a pic rail that bolted on in place of the Ringsight. Like the Tactical the TR has an iron sight built into the top rail but it is a bit different, where the TR has open pistol style notch and post sights built into the rail lugs. The TR was available for both the P90 and PS90.

    The Thompson SBR is a thing! A "Short Barrel Rifle" replica of the classic smg! It fires from a closed bolt :) So I can somewhat see how a 3d artist for a game would get it confused/not see it as important. But the model does say 1928.... I always appreciate when the guns in any game are accurate (IF the game uses realistic weapons). It's just nice to see all the little details.

    11:50 I don't know why he calls out the marking on the 1897 for being on the slide bar; that's where they're marked in real life. But the marking itself is different, they usually read "Winchester Model 1897" on two lines, in all capitals.

    I wouldn't take the calibres in pubg too seriously, they are very simplified for gameplay purposes. For example "7.62" ammo in pubg is used for guns that would in real life be firing 7.62x39 (such as the AKM and M762 Beryl) as well as guns that would be chambered for the more powerful 7.62x51 NATO round (such as the SLR and MK14).
