I would imagine the steersman job on a tiller ladder fire truck must be quite a skilled and prestige position to have. I guess though that its a job that is starting to come to an end now that so many trailer axles automatically steer and perfectly follow the track of the trucks drive axle, the steersman won't be needed much longer.
