@@TheDestructorOfficial After some years building them yes my love for flying was there, but never I would fly those planes... NEVER, those pilots are out of this world

Long and hard day flying. Thankful for the tools to fight those fires with. Ground crews and in the air. Much respect for their dedication and labor to stop the burning flames. These guys deserve a huge raise in pay.

I worked at Canadair on the CL215 as well as other aircraft. We had one CL215 come in for repairs from Venezuela that was very corroded from the ocean salt water. The keel was even badly corroded in the area where water was picked up. The Canadair pilots who were sent down to fly it back refused to fly it

Σαφώς. Το Ιλιούσιν είναι δύσκολο να κάνβει αποτελεσματικές ρίψεις στο Ελληνικό ανάγλυφο. Αποτελεί όμως ένα από τα σπανιότερα "θέματα" πυροσβεστικού αεροπλάνου και έχει ιδιαίτερη σπανιότητα για εμάς τους "αεροπλανάδες" η καταγραφή του.

They are a good aircraft but for big fires they are not to effective there is a need to develop a purpose built scooper that holds in the area of 10 to 15 thousand gallons of water and retardants.

Well done ! Excellent video with great angles and clear shots. The sad issue remains ; why the locals knowing the great fire risks do not organize and volunteer ? Sure there are some volunteers but watching fires in Greece I see people just standing and watching.....great respect for the Greek Air Force and its pilots.....fantastic skills flying the overaged aircraft. God bless them and the beautiful country of Greece.

I wish I was a waterbomber pilot.

I am not a chemist, but I do know that salt is bad for soil. I wonder if they could add in a reactant to the sea water to make the salt more benign or to separate it.

No, pure sea salty water. Yes it is true the fact regarding the damage of of the soil.

Later, an sea diver was found in the burned forest.

Put on some good music and turn off the sound as it is mainly wind noise.

@@niksato5210 in Canada the Chinooks are using an internal 4000 gallon of ank and a snorkel to reload. Carrying a bucket with a helicopter that size is like pissing into the wind.

Ναι η μέθοδος είναι γνωστή! Λέγεται ανθρώπινη βλακεία και όσο υπάρχει θα έχεις φωτιές. Τις φωτιές δεν τις σβήνουν τα αεροπλάνα φίλε μου, απλώς βοηθάνε να μην προχωρήσουν τα μέτωπα. Μπότες στο έδαφος κάνουν κατάσβεση…

Why dump the water ON the fire instead of on the ground IN FRONT of where the fire is going. That little bit of water will evaporate before it ever gets to the fire. Stupid waste of resources. Your not fighting a spot fire. That helicopter is useless for what you used it for. Create a high humidity bubble infront of the fire and it will slow it down. Let the bombers hit the main body of the fire.

The heat in the middle of it can not let the firefighters work where you ask them to put water on. They must first kill the heart in the fire. That their jobs and men work exclusively fire to the inside as long as the heat is not enormous. I am not an expert but logical thinking. if it were for me I would put out the fire with grenades or missiles of fighter jets after people have evacuated. The simplest fastest means of suffocating a large extinguished fire.

@@machristos3730 I have been a firefighter for 22 years. We never fight a wildland fire from the middle. Never. You work from the heel of the fire and move in. Out front if homes are endangered we place sprinklers on the structures and leave! We do not stay and play. If your using water bombers you don’t have crews fighting near the drop locations. We also don’t use helicopters for these kinds of fire we use bombers. Helicopters are good for spot fires or small fires. The heat of these larger fires would evaporate the little amts of water the helicopter can drop.

@@machristos3730 your not wrong...in structural firefighting there are now means of throwing thing that looks like a grenade that you can throw into a room that is on fire. So say you have what we call a content fire...a fire isolated to a single room. You can walk up to the window and throw it into the room from outside. It explodes and suppresses the fire. Never used one myself as my department doesn’t use them.

@@bestamerica12 shinooks with bucket attachments are also fluyng.....we have 24 but not all of them have the bucket attachments....those are ours and the canadairs are ours.....also other nations send canadairs and helicopters... And alot of vehicles from alot of country's are on the ground
