that has been the perk of Nintendo games and consoles, it's their trademark, of course they are not without flaws though, things like region lock and such, but the past few years they have fixed many of the underlying 'annoying' problem.

@@TheRagingSun Mother 3 has one of the best stories of all time, but yeah, Nintendo games aren't really known for their story. Usually that goes to second party studios like IntSys, Retro, Monolith Soft etc

this game is so good that even after playing it, i still find myself watching reviews to see how well others have also enjoyed the game.

Joël Naveed BOTW is NOT an RPG. Three houses is a tactical strategy JRPG It’s a classic. The character Interaction is A1, The soundtrack is legit highest tier, the world building is brilliant, the gameplay in both the combat and the levelling is so good. The environments could’ve been a lot better and the visuals overall. That aside it’s right up there

English voice acting has improved with leaps and bounds in japanese games the last couple of years.

@@axogreen876 yes it's mind blowing from my perspective. Obsession about your own language. And as I said earlier it's not only about Japanese media. It's all the same for literally any other language. Playing GTA dubbed into other language than English is as cringy as playing Japanese games dubbed into English (or any other language). It's worse butchering than visual censorship actually. And as always, you stated binary option (learning language - yeah, I learned Japanese, but what about other languages? Being able to appreciate foreign languages and cultures has nothing to do with obsession, it's only natural for any open minded person). No, this world isn't binary, people aren't machines. Dubbing is fake regardless of the country origin.

Bernadetta's English voice actor made me completely love her character. I have seldom laughed so hard at hearing a character speak/scream in a game.

Not only is Fire Emblem: Three Houses my favorite game since Breath of the Wild, it is in my top five favorite games of all time.

NyQuiiL Cold & Flu yeah I’d be there with you, but I think the two spiritual successors, Wargroove and Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble, have taken what was great about the Advance Wars series and split it into two solid directions.

I called put of work on Sunday just to play this more.

Awesome to see how well-received this game has been. Tactical RPG's are such an addictive RPG sub-genre. Nowwwww, if Square-Enix can get their act together and give us a new Final Fantasy Tactics game, and/or a FFT collection...

I'm delighted you're so happy with this and that they kept the awesome music switching feature in the battles, I love that!!!

Bought the game due to this video. I trust your review and decided to completely ignore metacritic. Having never played a Fire Emblem game I found that I am utter rubbish at tactical games. lol. But so far I'm enjoying what I've played. Graphics look super cool too.

really enjoyed your review - i feel the same way about the game. I am unsure how I feel about the "rewind time" mechanic on classic mode and the school is so-so but I am loving everything else.

Great review. I do have one question about the month system. Do they give the player enough time to do everything we want in the month or no?

Easy way to level professor level. Stockpile Fishing bait, wait for a fishing bonus day that gives multiple fish per catch, that way you can get over 100 professor exp per bait used. I grinded Professor rank C+ to A+ in one fishing session.

I love the music and sounds in the game, apart from original sound effect of old fire emblem games when in battle the music phases fluently from a beat in battle to soft tone when moving units it’s amazing

This is absolutely my favorite game on the switch, maybe my favorite game of all time, thank you for the review! I absolutely loved path of radiance and radiant dawn. I've played most of the FE games, but nothing captured me as much as the radiant duo, until now. I think the full sized characters and 3d terrains really makes it more immersive. I haven't played persona yet, but after this I know i've got to give it a try.

Better to play hand held or TV? On oled switch would, triangle be better to start. Did you ever review Vandal Hearts? I loved that years ago.

I love how in depth this game is. Even the tea times and other small actions are voiced. And depending on who you choose they have different dialogue between each other. Fav switch game besides the main ones like Zelda and Mario 👌

I picked this up on launch day based on your trusted review Johnny. The game looks and plays beautifully so far. I can tell it is going to be pretty unforgiving, with a lot of mechanics to learn, but it's drawn me in to where I'm happy to invest the time and effort. Great review and infectious enthusiasm!

Do you get a totally different story depending on what house you choose and who lives and dies?

So, as a Fire Emblem novice, would you recommend playing on Classic or Casual? Any input from long time fans or people introduced to the series with Three Houses would be greatly appreciated.

You get a rewind mechanic so you can try to prevent deaths so I'd suggest classic because its more rewarding to find out how to prevent deaths.

I just picked this up for my fiance. I planned to pick up two copies like I usually do; However, my fiance is more of a Fire Emblem fan than I am. Unfortunately, Nintendo did not ship enough copies and this game is sold out everywhere. I wish Square would release another Final Fantasy Tactics or an Ogre Tactics. Normally, I would preorder but I simply forgot it was coming out. Thankfully, we are both huge gamers and have so many games to play it's insane. We have in our master bedroom alone- 2 4K UHD's and two of every console (enhanced versions) and two bookshelves filled with games. We also have a spare bedroom dedicated to retro gaming with everything from the Atari 7800 to the Xbox One, and PS4. We are also building a home arcade to add too this cacophony of gaming goodness. Great review as always, I am a subscriber for life.

Looks awesome, just bought based on this great review! Also I didn't know canadians get square eyes from excessive screen time. Is that why canadian car tires are square?

I'm glad they give you a language option, I my self preffer English unless the voice work is terrible which with newer games it's good. I was playing Tales of Vesperia on my Switch and I thought it was pretty good. I feel more immersed understanding the language.

This is the best review I’ve seen on this game and has convinced me to buy a copy. I love your authenticity and will always see what you have to say before picking up a game. Keep going!

how does time work? is there a continual clock or a limited number of sequences like persona 5?

Nevnad The “exploration” phase of the game between battles is action-point based. Each activity you choose (more or less) increments the remaining time left down until it reaches zero. When you have no more points left, you can still explore the monastery or just end the turn.

It's the 16th game in fact. It's getting to the point where it's hard to keep track. Glad they shook things up with this one though, enjoying it a ton.

Wow I was already excited but now you've really got me fired up! Path of Radiance is my favourite FE too and it's great to hear all the aspects are top notch. I just got my special edition delivered early can't wait to get into it

I had my doubts about this game (I'm a F.E. fan, too), but I'm pumped 'cause I know Johnny is a very honest reviewer. I've always enjoyed the gameplay in this franchise but I feel the recent games on the 3DS had weak storylines (Fates in particular I struggled to finish)...let's see if this can recapture the magic of the older entries!

The voice acting was so good. Played though it 3 times, looking forward to my 4th in A while. It's A rare game that I really treasure and sadden it will end.

So you only have one month? Is that the whole game or does it continue after? That doesn't sound like a lot of time to get much done

Each chapter of the game is divided into months. You use your time to prepare for the main story battle at the end of each month. This goes on for about a year before there is a 5 year timeskip, and then the second half of the game begins.
