The question now is: will IS forcefully implement "Relationship Building a.k.a Intimate Social Experiment" into this remake and any possible future remakes? Never played "Gaiden", only played FE1, FE4 - FE Fates. Please tell me there's no "Support Convo", just well-written dialogues.

I hadn’t even touched Fire Emblem when this Direct was released. Now, over two years later, Fire Emblem is my favorite video game franchise of all time. I can’t wait for Three Houses to release!

Those games would all be awesome, but F-Zero is the least likely. I'd love to see an F-Zero game, but I dunno. Animal Crossing is very likely, Metroid is... possible, and Pokémon and Smash are most likely happening (Since a new Pokémon game is already confirmed, but we don't know what it is).

NizuiNizu i think so too. Maybe games will come out up to 2020 since a lot of 3ds has been sold. They wont simply throw the market theyve created. Also FE echoes is in 3ds cause they dont need to develop another engine which will make the game way more less expensive in development. I wish to see FE in switch but for now i would love it if they still release it in 3ds

Well, Echos is probably complete with how close it is to launch, at least they are preparing it for launch Nintendo isn't making Warriors themselves, so they don't have that on their plate Heros is done for sure, and most likely developed separate from the normal FE team so they have a year to focus on FE:Switch, so I wouldn't worry that they are trying to just pump out games, it seems all these games will go really well IMO

Well, yes and no. Gaiden is SERIOUSLY outdated, and IS surely doesn't want to repeat the horror that was Shadow Dragon (the remake of FE1). So by "inspired", it is basically Gaiden, but I'm assuming with added content, since I've heard that Gaiden is shorter than most of the main games (only FE I haven't played, so I can't really confirm...).

I am happy Nintendo is starting to milk Fire Emblem like it does Mario and Zelda!

They probably will, considering that it's now a major Nintendo IP along with Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. As for pokemon I doubt they will do anything unless it's cards like the animal crossing amiibo cards, and since pokemon already has a TCG I don't know how they will handle this.

Fun Fact: Gaiden or Echoes: Shadows of Valentia occurs 1 year after Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (the original FE: where Marth is the protagonist) in another country called Valentia, and is the second game released of the series in the year of 1992. These most likely are the reasons for it to be released before more popular games in the franchise like Genealogy of the Holy War and Binding Blade, specially because is considered the black sheep of the franchise by many.

Well, you´re right about some parts. The time line goes: Genealogy of the Holy War part 1, Thracia 776 (is a midquel of Holy war), Genealogy of the Holy War part 2, Blade of Light, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, and finally Awakening. Fates occurs like ten years after Awakening but in another universe not related directly to any other game (better explained in Fates' DLC Hidden Truths). Blazing Sword is a prequel of Binding Blade and have no relation to any other game in the franchise. PoR and RD are in th same boat (even though Priam, a descendant of Ike is recruitable) and Sacred Stones and Fates don't directly connect to any other game. Is worth noting people from Awakening know about all the other universes and the Tangel are believed to be descendants of the Laguz (better explained in Awakening's DLC Harvest Scramble) I know is a LOT to take in, I actually had to search some parts that I forgot, but you can ask me any questions you have.

Hiring Yuri Lowenthal was a smart decision, he made this Direct legit and genuinely interesting unlike the typical cheesy voice acting we tend to get to advertise anime-esque games. Good Job Nintendo!

Caused it did suck, story was dull, some characters were repeats original weren't good if they needed to do that, weird creepy petting was removed thank goodness, hot springs is pointless, the kids hardly made sense, Corrin isn't anything special. Only thing note worth my was the gameplay and stages. At least Conquest was a challenge, and revelations was even better.

As someone who started with the GBA games, you give Fates WAY to little credit, remove your nostalgia glasses and look at it objectively, its a great game, just probably not to your liking. Please know the difference between "Its sucked" and "I personally didn't enjoy it". What you hate, others may love.

To be fair, we do have a point in being angry at it. I had to buy the game 3 times to get the whole story. Not that I didn't like the game or anything, just... It was unnecessary to divide the 3 routes.

It only doesn't make sense if you haven't played Conquest or Birthright AND Revelations AND the DLCs prequel episodes in that order. Or Just Revelations and thinking about the intrigue for some fifteen minutes. Seriously. I'm not extremely fond of Fates for how it's splited into three games. I easily prefer FE 10 for the politics, figh scenes, laguz, horrible voice acting, and lyrics; and FE11 and FE4 because the intrigues were narrated. But Conquest remains a neat game with a great Nobledark story. I like to hear about other people opinion, but so far, almost everyone criticizing Fates argue with invalid or subjective points.

Best Anime of 2017.

FireEmblem Warriors: Oh my god, my hype is even stronger! FireEmblem Switch: Oh my god, yes please! No region lock gives me hope! FireEmblem Heroes: eh, not interested. FireEmblem Echoes: Great, a 3ds title, let's see what Nintendo Treehouse will do this time to ruin it for the west. I'm looking forward to the english-dub-only, combined with horrible voiceacting, censorship, changed character names and personalities, and removed content. Did I forget anything?

Voice acting in Fates wasn't even that bad, some charcters has unfitting voices but Felicia was the only one with "bad" voice acting, and that was one line.

+Logan The map design in Birthright and Revelation gets criticized pretty harshly by series veterans. The former lacks objective variety (everything is rout or kill boss) and the latter has some really annoying gimmicks. Conquest is pretty well liked, though.

i've never considered buying a FE game until now either. just not sure if the game will be for me because im all for strategy but im concerned whether or not the series takes it too far or if someone like me can learn it without having to be super into the game. another reason is that i dont know if its a series where if you jump into a random game you can still follow the story or if i play a game i'll be completely lost.

Not true for everyone. I'm new to the series, but I really wasn't impressed by Fates's storyline. As for Awakening, I was too new to the series to recognize bad map design, but I do know that Fates had some better maps in general. Although I'm a girl so I guess I'd be banging husbandos/Rhajat, lol.

It's great to see Fire Emblem getting so much love.

+PedoBearNomsLoli yes maybe one day we got one on the ds maybe on the new 3ds for golden sun i love the elemental puzzles in the games maybe since they add Dark Psyenergy Dark Dawn they might add Light Psyenergy and Dark as party members and Light and Dark Djiin and puzzles where you have to shine lights at mirrors and just maybe they could have an elemental weakness and resistants like Shin Megami Tensei if it's not copyrighted like some enemies Nullify Drain or Reflect and you later get armour that nullify their weakness and you also get extra turns if you expoilt enemy weakness but they they probably won't do this because it might seem to much like a copy and paste.

I love all of this! Still don't totally get why they still decided to release Fire Emblem Warriors on both NX and 3DS, but eh. I wonder if Fire Emblem Echoes will be an ongoing series, like of only remakes. They could bring back Fire Emblem Heroes of Light and Shadow, or Sacred Stones, or my personal favorite Fire Emblem GBA.

It's too pander to both consumers. The Switch is just coming out, so it make sense to make a New 3DS version as that has been out far longer, and many people already own one, myself included.

Probably because it's the same team that made Hyrule Warriors/Legends. THey already have he basic gameplay and framework for a n3DS version, so why not make it? The best part is that it's exclusive to the New 3DS models, which means they don't need to hold back to make it work with the older models.

No...No its beyond easy...It was a bit janky but it was easy once you got your head round it.

I'm so appreciative of all the recognition FE is getting! I've been a fan since Sacred Stones and I'm super excited to see the series finally getting what it deserves.

It was alright, but I really wanted more on that Fire Emblem Warriors game.

Yeah the only reason I came here was to see FE Warios, I'm super glad for the new games and really considering them, just saying I felt tricked

I'm guessing since Echoes is a remake of Gaiden there will be no avatar or a marriage mechanic, or will they somehow sneak that in as well. Although, unless you speak Japanese AND played the original, no one will even know what the original was like so they could put them in, I'm not saying they should put them in, they should try to keep it as original as possible, but they could.

My guess is now that the series is making bank they'll probably cater to older fans with the remake, while still sneaking in some of the new dating sim stuff. However the fact that they showed none of that in the trailer makes one hope

Yeah, that wouldn't make sense for it. However, a support system, similar to Tellius/FE 12/Awakening & Fates minus the marriage (and Naga forbid, children) could be a nice addition, to expand on the game's lore and characters.

marriage has been around since fe4 and paired endings in FE6 to Awakening. I wouldn't mind seeing a support system, but I don't want an avatar in the game. Mostly because they don't feel like a representation of me. Robin and Corrin are very clearly not like me at all.

Zenith Tempest Has marriage been in the games for that long!? I knew that the support system has been in the games for a while, but I was told that marriage was only added to Awakening as a last ditch effort to sell the game to a wider audience to keep the series alive.

I'm so excited for all of these games!

I'll be honest, I was expecting more of Fire Emblem Warriors with maybe a short announcement for the Fire Emblem mobile game, not the other way around, lol. While that didn't meet my expectations, Fire Emblem Heroes does look great, and I can't wait to get it! That being said, however, I do hope we don't have to wait until E3 for more information on Warriors.

The fact that they didn't release a REAL metroid on 3DS is just mind boggling (especially since metroidvanias are so popular on PC these days. But hey! Metroid titles usually don't sell very well. They're well reviewed (except... you know), but they become cult classics and Nintendo is focusing more on franchises that make them money. And FE is currently one of those.

Buy which one specifically? Warriors or Echoes? Honestly just try out the mobile game that comes in February. It'll most likely have the basics that are in almost every fire emblem game. If you can enjoy whatever the mobile game seems to imply, then you will probably enjoy the normal games (except warriors).

I love how they got Yuri Lowenthal (Marth's English VA) to narrate the Direct; would be neat to see more Directs in the future narrated by professional voice actors.

As someone who is still fairly new to the Fire Emblem series (started Awakening and Fates), I am so so excited for Echoes! I've seen quite a few fans praise Gaiden, so I can't wait to see if it live up to the hype! :D
