According to forest officials, the fire started near Mount Baldy ski resort on Sunday morning and was named the Vista fire.
By Monday night, the fire was 588 acres (about one square mile) and zero percent contained, according to official fire reports.
Several fires broke out across Southern California over the weekend, prompting some residents to be evacuated from their homes, local media reported.
