A middle school in my district recently got its MXL-IQ ripped out and replaced by one of those newer Siemens panels. They even had an XLS style annunciator put into an RCC-1f cabinet. I hope the MXL-IQ at the elementary school I used to go to is not replaced.

I love the notifier speakers

Had a similar experience inspecting two Siemens systems as well. Could not walk test either one. Then ran into a Faraday (still Siemens but different branch) panel and I was able to walk test that one. They don't release the code but it did get leaked - 0123.

I've been able to walk-test Siemens panels that have default code simply by guessing what it is after a few tries. the problem I have is their panel programmers in our area tend to wipe out the default code and put something else in only they know.

@@safetech any reason they do that? Are they trying to force places to have to rehire them in order to test their systems or are they just dicks?

At my school they have a Notifier system with Wheelock NS h/s and AH-24WP and 5 MTs outside and NBG12LX pulls (but I don’t know a detectors) ,an when it goes off it hurts my ears really bad, and for some reason it makes it hard to evacuate

Ah yes, a Proprie-rotronics system. I bought a small, old MXL system years ago, thinking I could reprogram it. Turns out, I just purchased an oversized paperweight.

Does Siemens own Wheelock? Because I’ve seen many alarms made by Wheelock rebranded by Siemens.

Siemens have to use Wheelock devices because of a lawsuit between them in 2008

I'm not a big fan of Siemens myself if you couldn't tell however some like them so here ya go! :)

SAFETECH These alarms were in a high school I used to go for swim lessons when I was a little kid. They had UMMTs/UMHUs hard to tell which but they were on code 3 horn. They had about 6 or more of them in the swimming area in this school and when I would have swim lessons at about age 5 or 6 during the summer, it would happen when the company was doing the inspections. I believe they did this type of testing because the alarms would turn on and off (I was little so I have no idea) but it would scare me so much that I used to refuse to enter that building if the fire alarm was going off...and now I'm a fire alarm collector lol. Funny how things change when you grow up!

I honestly have no clue but its very likley they did.

Siemens has gotten rather cheap over the years. The Kohl's I had a seasonal holiday position at last December had a Cerberus/Siemens system with U-MMTs as well. My college's Student Union also had a couple of U-MMT horn/strobes in one part of the building (one replacing an old Standard 450 horn, another replacing a classic SpectrAlert.) But a couple years ago that wing was renovated and they installed SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes there. (Their panel is a Notifier AFP-200 installed in the late 90s or early 2000s.)

Siemens owned Faraday.from the late nineties up until 2015, when they were dropped as a brand.

@@mattthebassboythe panel was not in walktest. if you read the description you’ll see that he was not able to put it in walktest and he had someone else at the main panel silencing the system each time a device was put into alarm for this test

At 3:46 does anyone know why the panel says 2006 for the year? Is this an old video?

So I want to alternative school for two years, I was causing a lot of issues over at the school I should've been going to so they sent me to alternative school, by the way this is an elementary school not a high school Now I don't know if the code has changed now on how many drills at school is required to do per year But in my two years there we only had 4 fire drills Not only that the two fire drills didn't even happen until my second year there And 2 of them weren't even really fire drills, but more of just practice, I say that because they didn't even set off the alarm Now the system is pretty standard It's just a simple notifier system with an AFP-200, NBG-12LXs, and wheelock ns's Now I didn't really have an issue with the system Mostly because the classrooms had strobes But what pissed me off the most about it Is that I wasn't in a normal classroom I was in the B,A,U room Now this room is tiny, it's about the size of a storage closet and for some reason, for some reason I don't know why They put a wheelock NS in that room Thank God I was never in that room when the fire alarm went off To this day I have no idea why that alarm was in there Here's just a quick note, The intermediate school I went to after that had pretty much the same system except with an AFP-400 and horn strobes in the classroom Just like the old-school they also had horn strobes in the bathrooms And after the Christmas break they change the bathroom alarms to RSS strobes So for all I know that's alarm in the bau room has changed

My middle school had TrueAlert horn strobes on max volume in the shitters, needless to say everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they tested the system after I convinced the Simplex Grinnell guy to change the tone to beep and volume to minimum, it had been like that 20 years now it's a much more tolerable system

But there was the problem with walk test they keep flashing

My church has Siemens XLS with voice evc with Wheeluck E50's speaker strobes. Also the christian academy next to the church also has the same system with a mix of old Wheeluck E70's and E50's that replaced Simplex True alert speakers strobes. Before the school had a old simplex 4100 with voice evac. with old Wheeluck E70's speaker strobes. Along with Simplex True alerts that they added in 2004. But around Oct of November of 2006. They replaced the Simplex system with they Siemens system i guest they were not happy with the serivce fees from Simplex. Before the church was in the school chapel. So in 2007 they did a big add on for the church also that is where the school gym is at now. Not a fan of Siemens also they always seems to be a trouble with the system every year. The church and the schools have they own panels but they are still hock up with each other. So as we were leaving church today they panel started bleeping and showing a trouble. It said that something was having a malfunction in the elevator lobby. When the alarm sounds it does a code 3 tone and a female voice.

How loud are UMMT'S Compared to the spectalert advances

Its loud af, i had these alarms in my school and trust me if u put ur ear in the speaker in these alarms, you could wind up going deaf, thank god my school is replacing those loud arse alarms

It's all contract-based. For example, there's a brand new building in my city that my company services, and it's got a Simplex system. We're a Notifier distributor.

I've yet to come across anything. Even our more experienced techs haven't a clue. My guess is their programmers wipe out any default codes if any and program one only they know.

These fire alarms sound very loud due to compare the specter alert advances. And I can't really tell which one has the loudest horn but it's maybe both. :)

Tell me about it. In my senior year of high school, I was standing too close to a U-MMT when it went off (and it wasn't a drill), and my ears were bleeding for several hours. And I was yelling up a storm at the adults when it was all said and done.

The strobes will keep flashing unti you reset it how about if you dinit reset it in 7 days will the strobes still be flashing 7 days later if you dinit reset.it

It's the way it's programmed. Current code states strobes must stop upon silencing however this system is grandfathered.
