Dude when I saw this mode in the game I cried tears of joy because it was like you got everything you ever wanted. Through watching your videos over the years I have related to you a bit as well as going from Emperor to Deity skill through your training. So to see it all culiminate by SEEING YOUR NAME IN THE GAME was absolutely incredible. And then I proceeded to have one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in civ by playing your scenario. So thanks for everything my dude. Also, Firaxis' translation of GigaHuge: "Build a sprawling empire!" was hilarious to me for some reason.

Finally Potato is doing his own monthly challenge. I had a ton of fun with this one, I don't remember too much happening in the late game besides settling almost half the world, but the early phase of my game was amazing: I had a ton of marshes so I got the Lady of the Reeds and Marshes pantheon, and used that and a couple of chops to get the Etemenanki. I also spawned on a peninsula with the Cree to my left. I had to do some screwed up tactic to delay his settlers, but I managed to forward settle and get him stuck on just 3 coastal cities for most of the game. Unfortunately for him, they were all desert cities that couldn't grow too much so eventually my civ grew so much he just got gobbled up. Even the two cities he managed to get on other islands got absorbed too.

It was super cool to see your icon in the game menu! My Emperor run also ran into Greece spawning immediately next to me/Canada on another island. They were a big challenge when I kind of faffed about trying to build some pretty cities (my understanding of good places to put Government Plazas needs work) and could only find a few National Parks, but I managed to Rock Band my way to victory in the late game. Since I started playing Civ again last month, this was the second time I played above Prince. When I first played Civ, I played a lot of Settler fearfully, but watching your content between my time off from Civ, I became more confident to at least be average. My Prince run of the challenge let me take over a large half-tundra island and coat it with National Parks and Preserves. I hadn't appreciated how great this combo was until your videos and now I love to try to put them together when I can. I'm looking at the Appeal view every other turn to try to balance against my addiction to Industrial Zones. 23:33 Guilty as charged. Any time a barbarian kills one of my units, it's back to the save scum. 29:10 I suspect you already know this but just in case: I usually like to check my apostles' upgrades before using them to evangelize my belief, because since you only need 3 charges to evangelize, you might get something that gives additional charges and in that case, you can use that time to use the two charges of an Orator or 3 charges next to a natural wonder. (Also I always keep Debaters as a safety valve on if I lose track of things and get my religion removed, because then I can fight some missionaries to revive it prior to getting a rock band, but as my Settler tendencies imply, I'm both nervous and unobservant lmao.) 36:19 THANK YOU. I managed to aqueduct across a river presumably when there were a couple of aqueducts in close succession and I never could figure out why it wasn't working some of the time. I'm kind of bad with rivers in general as I could never figure out dams without the improved map tacks mod. 2:28:31 I don't know if I believe the spy probabilities. Mine always seem to die and need me to reload to save them.

You've got more land to make national parks, seaside resorts, ski resorts etc, probably can get or have already conquered more wonders and great writers/artists/musicians. If you also take more cities of the last civ, that's less culture they can produce too. And maybe defeating all other civs probably also grants you a victory.

I actually went in a COMPLETLY different way with my first few cities, specifically because of some of the problems you mentioned. It's easy to get population as Kamer, so my focus went in the other direction. I founded my city on the luxury, and set up several fidget spinner industrial zones. By the mid game (forget the late game) I had several cities that could produce wonders with ease, and were still at well over 10 pop (some over 20 pop). Combined with rural cities producing national parks and the win was a breeze.

I feel like you could have loss surplus logistics, possibly a later one on Pingala past conn/research, and possibly Liang to get that. Then you chop with Magnus and move Moksha around to use the faith to convert to theater squares and holy sites. But regardless, great game.

I got a turn 164 win on emperor for this. I went with cross-cultural dialogue and bee-lined flight (after unlocking aqueducts), ignoring everything else. After that I looped back around for medieval and renaissance walls and printing. It helped that Valletta was in the game so I could get the walls up quickly once I got conservation. Also, I noticed what I assume is a bug in that Medieval walls provided 3 tourism and Renaissance walls provided 2 tourism, when I think it is supposed to be the other way around. This is the first time I've been purchasing walls with faith while paying close attention to my tourism, so maybe it has always been that way, or maybe it was a bug just in this scenario.

Regarding declaring friendship to the AI and Gilgamesh in particular, as far as I know it's always possible to immediately declare friendship to him the same turn you met him. Which will probably last the entire game, since by being friends with him you fulfill his primary agenda... making him more likely to declare friendship again once it's run out.

I believe you can declare a friendship with Gilgamesh regardless of his opinion of you (as long as you aren’t denounced)

I think you should have taken Desert Folklore. A Holy Site on a river surrounded by desert and with +100% adjacenty bonus for holy sites and the craftmansship belief would give you +16 Faith, Food and Production with only one district and no buildings.

To really play a 'tall' game in civ6 is possible with mods. Cypryan's Wide and Tall is a blast to play :)

Is there any difference between this "challenge" and a normal Khmer wetlands game with classical start and random map seed? I could not find any in my own games.
