One of my Father's brothers, was KIA in France on 14 June 1944. He survived the landing on 6 June 1944 and then some German Artillery got him. RIP Uncle Donald Mantooth, although I wasn't born yet, I've heard many stories about you. You were Daddy's favorite brother and, at 98 years, he still mourns your passing. Rest easy in God's arms. I never knew there was lyrics for this song. 😲😲

I'm too young to have any recollection of War 2 beyond the history lessons in school. But, I do know that I have family that saw action in Anzio and the Italian campain. They all came home. ..although beat up and bloodied. I've grown up hearing my family talk about how fortunate they all were and how they suffered so much from survivor's guilt when many from their small town in Illinois didn't come home from that goddamned war.

One of these u.s.merans turned out to be my biological dad he met fell in love with my beautiful 24 year old mum they dated for a year in Auckland hecwas called to serve in guata canal April 1944 mum was a few weeks pregnant with me my dad never knew he had made a kiwi kid

Hi Fred The Band of Brothers theme tune "Requiem for a Soldier" was written in 2001 by song writer and lyricist Michael Kamen. You can easily access a copy of the words by googling the title! ;-)
