Like many people, Fiona Bruce dreams of finding a rogue in her family tree. “Dull is not good,” jokes the newsreader and presenter of Antiques Roadshow at the start of her episode of Who Do You Think You Are? “What would be great, I suppose, is if we got some kind of a great character or some sort of, I don’t know, a mass murderer, a stripper, or someone extraordinary.”

Fiona Bruce's great-grandfather, Frederick Crouch, died during World War One in mysterious circumstances. The family story is that Frederick failed to duck down when shells began falling nearby, despite the fact everyone else around him dived for cover. But a letter written by Frederick's widow to her son's school soon after the war reveals the sad truth behind the story.
Another family story about Frederick is that he joined the army to escape his parents. Hoping to understand the reasons, Fiona investigates the life of Frederick's father, a seemingly respectable Victorian photographer. It soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems with William Crouch, a larger-than-life rogue and star of a celebrated court case.

In my opinion, Ms. Bruce has one of the best voices in the English-speaking, broadcasting world.

Very carefully modulated and annoying. Especially when she is being chummy or carefully explaining to the, what she seems to view as, moronic British viewers of QT and ARS. She interrupts any leftist comments, allows right wing politicians to bang on endlessly and if they appear to flounder (the right wing politicians) she answers for them

Not including Terry Christian from The Word, I'd probably agree.

What a wonderfull orator of the English language, who unlike many does not need to use the UM or ER before every sentence.

She is against power to the people. That much is clear.
Typical bbc employee who was way up her own before she ever took over on question time , then her ego went off the chart
She doesn't visit her parents much
I wonder how much she made out of this.
In her commentaries her words slip over each other... she talks too fast like she's in a hurry to get it over with.
Something is wrong when the person presenting the news lives in a place most of the people watching can't afford.

Wow. Jealous much 😂
Odd how given her Dad's job she thought it would be interesting to find a mass murderer or a stripper in the family for interest. Why not a great scientist - maybe someone who did some great research? Developed a wonder drug or treatment or who was just a good doctor or nurse?
