As a retired LEO And 35 year firearms instructor I can tell you that I have fired 1000’s of Fiocchi rounds . They are as reliable as any premium ammunition out there. I have issued it as duty ammo so that alone should tell you that it doesn’t fail very often. Although I have fired many other premium ammo I can say that they all have dropped a round here and there. Fiocchi ammo is good for any purpose you want to use it for. Great video, I enjoyed it. Thank you for your time.

At first, I was dubious about your claims, but then I read your screen name of ‘Cecil Higgins’ and immediately my minds eye conjured up images of a 1930s private investigator shrouded in a thick layer of cigar smoke. Grizzled, hardened by the mean streets of New York and it’s underground crime world. A life of babes, bullets, and real life hard-boiled noir. Mister Cecil Higgins, (private I) does not take any wooden nickels from no-body no-how and would not steer me wrong. I now trust Fiocchi ammunition.

Dylan Lewis I’d argue that the .300 is a compromise in all areas, limited by its case. That’s more like the .40S&W. The 10mm is more like the .308... there’s almost nothing that can be done with a pistol that the 10mm can’t do... And for those things there’s 460S&W. 😆 Similarly if a .308 won’t do it, you just need a more specialized big gun.

The “number two” middle finger at 10:24 is hilarious. I caught it this time. The last video he did it, I missed it until I saw the comments.
A friend of mine in 2018 was on a range with me firing his 22mag. He kept getting misfires. The firing pen was just barley making contact with the round. I started walking down range after a misfire in which he waited about 10 seconds. He opened the bolt pulling the cartrage back about a half an inch when the bullet went off. It blew brass in his face and the butt end blew off. The bullet cleared the barrel. I turned around being 10 yards or so down range when it went off. I was glad to see he had it pointed off to the side. The oil turned into a grease preventing the firing pen to move as far forward as it would have normally. The brass only left slight red marks on his face and yes we were wearing classes. Also I have had two delayed firings when I was in the military. Both the shots with less then a half a second, but a noticeable time delay. Thanks for the vid's always look forward to new vid's.

It would startle the hell out of you though. Put a .357 on the end of an arrow and shoot it. The primer goes off. The case pops. The bullet, and powder falls to the ground.
5:35 The problem is JHPs themselves. I suspect that Fed keeps the 10 mm and .40 SW in the same velocity range to maximize the expansion and penetration to meet FBI standards ... Federal's .40 caliber JHP bullet needs to go approx the same speed in a 10mm as the .40 to get the same results. If you look at the ballistic gel results on Lucky Gunner (for example) and blank out the caliber you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the best.40, .45, or 10mm hollow points. If everyone designs their bullets to perform the same in Gel - then 10mm vs .40 is a moot argument. IF I learned anything from Paul .. it's that the ammunition you choose matters the most.

Always a great time watching your comparisons. Thanks Paul.
Since chronograph testing videos (including Paul's own) have shown that some typical 10mm is underloaded to 40s&w levels, it's logical for people to conclude that 10mm is one of those calibers for which the top shelf ammo is worth the extra cost. It's up there with 380acp as one of those calibers for which buying "hyper ammo" will actually give you something.

Regarding the dud round, "I" definitely would have waited a few extra seconds before clearing it, but that isn't because I'm so experienced with shooting, it's the exact opposite. I'm aware that delayed detonation can happen, but I'm not experienced enough to know exactly how unlikely it is to happen in this scenario, so I'd be afraid enough to wait a few seconds. I'm sure that even though Paul addressed it immediately, it won't stop the hoards of the RO equivalent of keyboard warriors from chiming in to tell Paul how wrong he was for pocketing the round. Meanwhile, Paul has so much more experience than almost all of us writing comments, that at this point, I'll just assume he knows what he's doing. If I see him do something that "I" think is wrong, my next thought is "he knows something I don't". And I'll also "ask" why he did something, rather that suppose that "my" way is right and Paul's is wrong. There was a video that Russel did on InRange a few months ago where he was demonstrating something with a magazine, and he wanted to have a full mag plus 1 in the chamber. So he inserted the mag, chambered a round, ejected the mag, topped it off, and reinserted. Now my first thought was "why not just drop one in the chamber, close the slide, and insert your full mag?". But instead of telling him he was wrong and stupid for going through the extra step, I asked if there was a reason he did it that way, because it's safe to assume that Russel Phagan knows more than I do. Russell and a few viewers replied and told me that closing the slide on a chambered round puts undue stress on the extractor, and can shorten its lifespan if you do it a lot. So instead of making an ass out of myself by jumping on the perceived opportunity to tell someone that they're wrong, I learned something new, and had a nice exchange with a few guys. If only more people conducted themselves in such a manner...

closing the slide on a chambered round is what happens every time you fire you gun and it loads a new round in the chamber. so i call bullshit on that answer. hell even pulling the slide back and chambering a round is the same

@@bigsean2473 Its different when its picking a round up from the magazine, rather than have to snap over the rim when its already in the chamber. At least thats the idea.

Big Sean247 is just the type of guy you were referring to, good timing on his part to be an ass hat. I used to load rounds directly into the chamber too but was corrected by someone who knew better, makes sense once you think about the mechanics of it.

@@ctusser agreed, but would suppose that it depends on the design of the weapon - specifically you the extractor and/or ejector are designed. But I'm not a weapons expert of _any_ kind, so I treat them all as if it's a bad idea to load the chamber directly unless I specifically know otherwise.

Paul your videos need NO explanation. You are the original....the best....the legend. Your word is gospel to me.
One of the best Paul Harrell videos ever.
Welcome back. We missed you last week.
Paul - all I can say: you are the GOAT ! ! !
Great video as always Mr. Harrell!! Thanks for the production and upload, can’t wait for the next one.
Good job Paul. You always have a very informative demonstration.
You could test rocks out of a slingshot, I’d probably still watch you. You make it interesting and informative.

Good stuff, I always like the way you approach the subject and back it up with the numbers.

Have a good weekend Paul! Hope you and co are well in these terribly crazy and stressful times. Ugh...Inslee and Brown are real pieces of work... :(
WooHoo. Paul does the best "Underwood" review's. A big thanks to Paul and crew, been looking for this Underwood shake down for some time.
Great channel paul, you definitely have a one of a kind style and you answer alot of questions I have through your testing. Keep up the good work thanks.
I love Paul and 10mm. “Why do you carry a 10mm?” Because a they don’t make an 11mm.

Automatic thumbs up without even having to watch the video.
I find these videos very well done, matter of fact, no bs, professional and straight to the point, I’ve been an avid shooter for 40 years and some of the most ignorant comments u hear at the range paul often covers these nonsense notions about accuracy, power and range of various ammo and firearms and he is a gentleman and refrains from calling us lesser educated shooters idiots! Thanks Paul and keep u the good work. Ur advice makes the choices in firearms and ammo much easier to comprehend.
Every new release is like Christmas morning when I was kid all over again. Thank you!
Kudos to the viewers sending him ammo. The shelves in my local gunstores are completely empty. There's no ammo anywhere. It's like the Monty Python Cheese Shop Sketch every time. LOL "Not much of a guns and ammo store really, is it?" "Finest in the state sir!" "And what leads you to that conclusion?" "Well, it's so clean!" "Well it is certainly uncontaminated by ammo!"

With what’s going on in your neck of the woods I was beginning to be concerned when the video was slightly delayed. Stay safe and be aware of your surroundings.
Fantastic video Paul. For anyone wondering energy calculations: UW 180gr HP - 1243 FPS = 522ft lbs UW 165gr HP - 1333FPS = 608ft lbs UW 100gr Extreme Defender - 1688fps = 633ft lbs I'll have to consider the extreme defender ammo for woods carry! I wish I could send you some Underwood Hardcast to get your take on that debate. I ended up upgrading my stock Glock 20 barrel to a traditional rifling pattern with a KKM barrel for peace of mind when shooting hardcast and to mitigate any potential dangerous lead fouling situations.
I'm going to have to inform you that this video was great!!
I was getting worried! Thought I missed my weekly dose o' Harrell-oin!
Damn I missed your videos Paul
For a moment there I though Paul was carrying armor plates under his shirt, I remembered he's just RIPPED!!!
Never was much into the 10mm side of firearms but this presentation was utterly fascinating. Thanks, Paul!
Paul Harrell, I really enjoyed the 2nd point you made about cartridges spontaneously firing after a good primer strike. I hope the trolls finger out what you we're saying! But with the level of intelligence I've been witness too recently in our country, I sadly do not see anyone learning from your experience! Love the channel, Love You, You're a breath of fresh air, a pillar of intellect & common sense. Paul Harrell, Would you run for President if someone started a Petition??? I whole heartedly believe that we need a man with your intelligence common senses, ability to be rational, your Stern yet non belittling way of including all sides of an argument to come to a conclusion that is left to your viewers to decide (The People) I truly believe You could make a huge difference in the world & that you should be President of the United States Of America! Paul Harrell 2024 Just Common Sense!
It seems like one word that seems to follow Underwood Ammunition is “Kaboom!”.
Paul has really been nailing the video topics lately as far as me and my immediate circle goes. Delivering exactly the kind of info we want with the quality we've come to expect from Mr. Harrell.
Excellent presentation as always. I keeping hearing about people complaining. I honestly don't look for them. However, I have to say in the years I have watched your presentations, not once have I had a single complaint. I learn something each time I watch. Thank you very much, Paul.
