Fins and Things - Jeep Badge of Honor Trail - 4x4, Moab, Utah

The Fins and Things Trail is a great introduction to the Jeep Badge of Honor trails. Considered to be a Moderate (3-4 on 10 point scale) this trail has a nice combination of fins, sand, and rocky ledges. We took this trail in our Jeep unlimited with a 2 1/2” lift and 35” tires.
This is a nice intro to the Sand Flats Recreation Area near Moab, Utah. If this was fun, and nothing caused issues, you may consider Hells Revenge (a more technical and unforgiving trail).

    We used to do it with 31's open/open and had no issues. When i would take a new group to Moab this would be the first trail i would take them on so they can gain confidence in how their jeep can climb and decend on the slick rock.

    Another great informative trail video. This is the 2nd video I've watched of yours and I haven't seen the wife driving any of the trails. When I first introduced my wife to off-road trails and some of the pretty awesome things the Jeep is capable of, I had her drive a great deal. I'm a bit better at spotting, so it worked well. Now she's hooked and I have to plead with her to let me get behind the wheel sometimes. Great video. Thanks.

    I (wife) rarely drive the intense stuff. I’d rather film and spot. There’s one more useful video on Potash Road and Shafer trails. It’s not the hardest trail but it was our favorite due to the amazing views you’ll get.

    40psi on road is pretty high for on road and 15 would work well off road. You won’t have any issues doing so. Enjoy and be safe

    Thanks for the video, I think this will be very helpful to my son and I. We live in Texas but I grew up wheeling in Louisiana. Mud is the game there. I’ve never done rocks and Fins and Things seems like it would be a lot of fun without being crazy enough to break anything.

    Yes, it’s a good intro trail as long as your not too long (a wrangler will do better than a gladiator) and have some lift. I think without a lift you might get a little scratched up. We haven’t hit a lot of trails with mud but I imagine that will change when we travel out east.

    You are correct. We were trying to hit up Hells Revenge on the same day before we lost our light. And we ran into some problems over there so it’s good we kept Fins short.

    Nice video with a lot of info for the the first timer. Looks like you all had a blast. If I can mention one thing. I could not tell but it looked like you did not have the front sway bar disconnected. Did you? If not that would make a big difference in the ride and handling. Would allow the front axle to articulate without resistance and give better traction and ride and not whip the passengers back and forth as much when going over uneven obstacles.

    They look to have a sport, unless they have added quick disconnects which it seems they haven’t then no sway bar disconnecting

    You do not need quick disconnects, all though it does make it easier. You can unbolt the links from the axles and tie them up out of the way. Then reattach when ready to get back on the road.

    I am doing this in May. On the last obstacle, was that the steepest option or one of the others and did you have your sway bar disconnected? Thanks!

  • @RVHomeschool

    @RVHomeschool

    On the last obstacle there are three descents. We felt we did the least steep. We did not have our sway bar disconnected. Our biggest issue was the tires slipping on the rock because the incline is so great.

  • @RVHomeschool

    Do you mean the Ford truck? It’s really going to get scratched up and bottom out. The trail is made for really short vehicles, and as a 4-door Wrangler we almost ran into some issues. Much longer and we definitely would have been scrapping up the back (or breaking something).
