FINNMARK: A journey in Norway's North to Ifjord, Tana, Bugyønes and Kirkenes // EPS. 13

The Norwegian region Finnmark stretches north of Sweden and Finland all the way to Russia. We discovered remote landscapes, a diverse nature and beautiful coastal roads and visited Ifjord, Tana, Bugyønes and Kirkenes.
When we exited Karasjok we changed our plans: Instead of going to Finland as planned we spontaniously decided to stay a day longer in Norway and explore the North to the border of Russia.
Road Fylkesvei 98 was crowned as Norways most beautiful road in 2016 - and took as straight to the beautiful Ifjordfell : A high plateau where no trees grow anymore.
After Tana and the Tanafjord a couple we met on the road suggested to stop in the town Bugøynes - and try the famous king crabs at one of Norway's best restaurants. We did - and you can find out in this video if the detour to Kirkenes was worth it!
// NEW EPISODE OUT EVERY THURSDAY 19:30 CET
//Join the journey from Switzerland to Nordkapp - to Europes barely inhabited places and it's last big secrets. The wild ride takes my travel partner and me 12.000 kilometres through 6 countries: Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden.
Time of the journey: July 2020 to September 2020
// Welcome to the journey! I am Lea, a journalist and author and I want to take you with me on a motorcycle overlanding adventure to all the wild and beautiful places in the world!
// I circumnavigated the world solo from 2016-2017 and now I am going to all other places I have not seen yet. Now on the channel: my motorcycle trip around africa/ the first stage of the journey through westafrica.
// Riding a BMW 1200 GSA (2016 model) that was kindly rented to my by a friend
//Equipped by myself (all my usual gear is still stuck in Africa and I self-bought these new items):
Klim Artemis jacket & Krios Pro helmet
BMW Motorrad Pants + gloves
Alpinestar Boots
Leatt Neckbrace (given to me from Leatt as my self-bought neckbrace is still in Africa)

2:59 ... "travelling on own vehicle (bike), at own pace" has always been my mantra ever since I fell in love with moving wheels. May you too ever ride like that with negligent pressure to perform from KZread followers, past (personal n other's) achievements etc etc etc, Lea. Ride with the spirit and the spirit ride with you ... freedom !!!

Strings and chords is the song in such long road. Over the table,.... A glass is thinking.... Port wine may be perfect for the moment. Just think again, all that forest, mantles green melting in dark ponds. It's cold.... Yes, all that beauty land can't be forgotten. A old fisherman told :"you can find some good regional dishes.... Haddock beef, coofish beef, whale beef or king crab in Bistroen restaurant if you want spend some money...." It's time to ride again, again and again to the border.... Finland! Take care, the..... Ride safely.

Mark, thank you so much for watching and commenting basically all of my videos until here - and thanks for even watching the africa videos, that were the first ones here on the channel. I didn’t film for KZread back then and started to edit them out of Instagram stories - that’s why the quality changed drastically when I started the trip to Norway and really filmed with the purpose of posting the videos here. I hope that you will keep liking the journey if you continue watching the episodes further - I have to admit though that Mauritania, Guinea, the ride to Nimba mountain and the boat ride with Captain Mustafa are still unforgettable to me and some of the most memorable experiences I had on my more recent trips. Thank you so much for joining the ride and diving into the Got2Go world!

@@Got2Go Hey Lea, I'm a fan so I will keep watching. I have also been watching and commenting on the US trip as well. It's a pity there is no option to give 2 thumbs up instead of just one 😊. I think you have a great channel going. Your content, photography, music choice, commentary, narrative style, and humour all make for engrossing, engaging, and entertaining episodes. And the fact that you are a duct tape mechanic, drag your riding partners to places they might not want to go, and make fun of them at will adds to all the merriment. Add to that you do it all with a lovely German accent, an often mischievous smile and we can always hear the passion and smile in your voice as you narrate your journey. So ya, big fan, and I'm sure a lot of people here feel the same way. Kudos to you and keep up the great work and may your channel grow. You make me want to run out, buy a plane ticket to one of these places, and go riding. Tho' Mustafa and his swimming tree are not for me. 😍 Cheers and safe riding. And thank you for all the effort you put into making each episode and taking us on these journeys. Bravo.

Hey Bryan, that makes me super happy that you found your way from Facebook to here (or at least that you saw the pictures on Facebook when I was on the road and now as well watch the videos here). When I am editing the videos I am always hoping that people follow both channels because I think the videos are such a different experience to the good looking and partly posed pictures that we show on social media. And I as well think the beauty of the country delivers much better through these moving pictures! So thank you for watching here as well!!! ☺️☺️☺️

People afterwards said that going to Gamvik and Vardo is very much worth the ride too - so if you have an additional day maybe you could check that out - and let me know what you think. ;) And: if possible make a reservation at the bistro, even though we were there around 3 it was completly booked out (but we were able to sit outside in the rain ;) )

Of course I enjoyed this part of your journey Lea. It’s a part of the world I will enjoy vicariously through you and your camera. I have no doubt that through the cameras eye along with your stories we will be treated to another stunning adventure into Finland. I’ve got a question for you or maybe two. What is the status of your motorcycle and gear in Africa. Is it getting any better in Switzerland 🇨🇭 with the lockdown. Countries can’t or shouldn’t lockdown people and businesses like this. Either way Lea enjoy the winter. Spring will be here soon. I live in Texas and ride year round. Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸

Thanks for watching - and yes, Finland will be great, I think the next two are two of my favorite episodes (I just love the Finns...). My motorcycle is on a boat as it can’t stay longer in Africa due to customs (and borders there are still closed...) - but I hope that I can continue this journey soon the other way round starting from east. Switzerland has a lockdown now I think until mid March or so - we will see how it goes afterwards (and how fast we all can get vaccinated - I feel like really traveling might only be possible again when getting these vaccines. Enjoy your winter in Texas - must be a good time to ride a bike as otherwise it’s sooo hot!

So Norway ends😥 and Finland begins😀. It’s been great following your Norwegian journey, especially the northern part. Stark, beautiful and empty. Not being to rigid in your travel plans has paid off again, I always feel it’s a job half done if you don’t make the most of the country you’re in. I’m pleased you didn’t get hangry in this episode! That crab 🦀 looked delicious mmmm.

Haha, no hangry moments thanks to the 🦀! 😂 Yes the more north we came the more I enjoyed the ride - I have to admit that I was not too crazy about Norway in the beginning (maybe as well because if the bad weather - but as well partly because some places were just really crowded) . But the north was just stunning! And yes, it definitely payed off to stay a day longer - looking back we would have needed even one or two days more to see even more if this area...
