One of the most overplayed songs of the 90s that never managed to get old. Eddie and Chris' voices worked so well together, if you've never seen the two them perform live I'd highly suggest it. The way Eddie used to look at Chris when he sang was with so much love and awe.

LOVE this song! It's ironic how this group of guys who did this album in honor of their fallen friend from a band not many people (outside of Seattle) had even heard of, not only gained a HUGE audience for their Seattle sound, but it was instrumental in forming the band Pearl Jam as we know it! And it sounds SO beautiful! Hope you are doing well, Anna🙂

@@annavaskelainenCan you react to Portugal Eurovision 2024🇵🇹? kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWmrpqmhk6e5oLQ.htmlsi=iCRFJ8XhDRQjOTYK Grito is Scream in English, and Grito not appear in the lyrics.. Grito is the scream in the climax of the song, when she liberates from the demons represented by the dancers. I’ve got a cool story about Eddie Vedder. First I worked for an insurance company back in the day in the special lines field and remember actually speaking to Eddie about his boat policy! He said enjoyed calling instead of his agent! Very down to Earth and later we were able to meet at a Seattle Pearl Jam show so he was able to put a face to the voice on the phone 📱. ILL NEVER FORGET IT! RIP CHRIS CORNELL. The Seattle scene in the early 1990’s is unsurpassed by anything going on today! I saw Pearl Jam on LOLLAPOLOOZA 92 with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Soundgarden, Jesus & Mary Chain, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill…

At one point he just went up to a mic and started singing the lower lines, leaving Chris free to hit those incredible high notes. Anna, two of the greatest losses in the 21st century were Layne Staley and Chris Cornell. Of course, his work in Audioslave must be evaluated. Some of my other favorites (although hard for me to listen to) are his covers of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and Guns 'N Roses 'Patience' ('Nothing...' is an unplugged studio performance and 'Patience' is an actual music video). Other epic works (in my opinion) include Soundgarden's 'Blow Up the Outside World', '4th of July', and 'Just Like Suicide'. And if you're interested in 'Temple of the Dog', listen to the rest of it. It's an amazing piece of work that I place on the same pedestal as Layne's side project with Pearl Jam, 'Mad Season'. Dammit, I miss these guys every day. I named my cat Layne.

Temple of the Dog was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. It was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of the bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. The lineup included Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Jeff Ament on bass guitar (both ex-members of Mother Love Bone and future members of Pearl Jam), Mike McCready (later Pearl Jam) on lead guitar, and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden and later Pearl Jam) on drums. Eddie Vedder appeared as a guest to provide some lead and backing vocals and later became lead vocalist of Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam's debut album, Ten, was released four months after Temple of the Dog's only studio album.

For your next one to explore regarding Chris Cornell, I highly recommend his acoustic live version of Prince's No One Compares 2U. It's just Cornell, another acoustic guitarist and a cello. It was when he was a bit older and believe it was recorded at a radio station. A truly amazing and beautiful performance. On another note, I also highly recommend Eva Cassidy's live acoustic version of Over the Rainbow. It's just her and a guitar in a small Washington DC club. IMHO, the song is now hers. If you don't have tears after her performance, you don't have a soul.

what i love about this song - besides their perfect combo - is also the simplicity of the videoclip representing the spirit of the theme of the song, representing the spirit of the times, good old times :) (yeap, i'm a 90s girl, i spent my youth in 90s and loved every minute of it:))

Very good reaction, I thought I would mention Wardruna again, you said you haven't done a reaction of them, you have heard of them have you not, if not, then a good song is Rotlaust Tre Fell, they also do a fantastic song called Helvegen...I recommend the version with a person called Aurora, she is simply incredible.

Love this song, but i love Cornell and Vedder singing just aboit anything. Would love to hear your reaction to Andy Wood with Mother Love Bone. Would also be fascinated to hear your thoughts on the other great forgotten singer from the Seattle Grunge movement and my absolute favourite, Mark Lanegan.

I'm suspicious when talking about Grunge singers, after all, it was the movement that shaped me as a human being, even more so when it comes to Vedder and Cornell. Your reaction is always excellent, in addition to the classes you provide us, we can see the sparkle in your eyes. Speaking of Temple of the Dog, a good song for your reaction would be "Call me a Dog", where Chris puts all his emotion into the interpretation, it's like a tip. thanks for this video.

Great song reaction Anna. My song recommendation would be the band MOTHER LOVE BONE with the song CHLOE DANCER/CROWN OF THORNS. this band was one of the pioneers in grunge scene and the inspiration for many bands like Alice in chains, Soundgarden and Pearl jam. The lead vocalist Andrew Wood also was a close friend to all these bands mentioned above.

Hi Anna, it’s been a long time! You don’t change, I still love the way you go back and forth between Finnish and English when you’re getting excited about something 😂. Yeah Chris and Eddie made a great duo, their voice were made for each others. Perhaps a bit of a sad song to me, I don’t really absorb the lyrics enough to make a full assessment. Anyway, have you heard of The Warning? They stirred things up a bit at the 2023 MTV VMAs with their performances! It was the first time in many years that they had heard real old school rock but with a modern twist. MTV are still trying to find their roof, the performance blew it off 😂. I think that you would probably like a song in their native language, Spanish - they come from Mexico and they are 3 sisters! The song is Martirio, it’s a beautiful but powerful song!

Awesome to see some Chris on your channel, had been anticipating it for a while. Man was out of this world and I consider myself lucky I saw him live and he made a fool out of me. Unfortunately his (imo) best works don't have a video or an equally impressive live video attached to it, but Say Hello 2 Heaven (Temple of the Dog) and Beyond the Wheel by Soundgarden (somewhere live in the mid 90's and has like 'INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE' in the title and for once it isnt clickbait) are among his best. With a video, Outshined live in 92 is great.
