The final play is launched by the most daring, imagiinative and beautifully executed pass I have ever witnessed in 50 years of watching rugby.

Good job the clear neckroll on farrell the phase before the try was ignored by the officials otherwise this brilliant piece of skill would be forgotten.

@@joedubs4052 I remember thinking that at the time watching on the big screen at Murrayfield nervously. Plus in this day and age Russell’s clumsy bump on the Ulster defender earlier might be reviewed, no malice and I think Russell clutching the ball to his chest does no wrong, but I’ve seen similar incidents punished.

Underrated in that whole stretch of play is Barclay not running straight into contact bus going slow and keeping the ball away from the defence, buys just enough time for support to get into shape and also means he can get the offload away.

number 15 was a crazy afternoon. 4 teams, Glasgow, Munster, Ospreys and Ulster all vying for home playoffs. 3 teams started the day on 70 points, and one on 69. order of the teams changed many times throughout the day. I ended up watching the last 10 minutes on my phone in a taxi to the station as I had to leave early!

Brilliant to watch! A true maverick, but worth the entrance money each week to watch. Yes, there are some howlers, but the genius outweighs those by some margin. Sport is about entertainment and FR is box office

You know what is so great about Finn? From the bath-saracens game you can see that he tries a very daring chip kick in minute one that backfires gloriously, and then 2 minutes later he pulls the level 31 play…the lad does not give two f**ks

The red card still annoys me, on the tv I am sure in real time there was a reverse angle where it appeared to show contact with the chest and not neck (never really looks like direct initial contact to the neck anyway), also no force either, just putting his hand up to fend but was slow as he’d double pumped a second before.

the last 3 were stunning. As an England supporter, I would take a few loses for wins that include this kind of play. You want kids to play rugby, its not going to be by showing them up and unders, penalties and conversions.

True and a bit of that magic is needed. But world cups aren't won without the above stuff too. Unfortunately forward power, consistent goal kicking, and great defence have been the backbone of all major cup winning teams, with a little bit of added sparkle (England bedded down the former last year but underdeveloped on the latter)

Agreed. Lots of chat on how to get/retain more fans in the game and having more players like Finn would be a massive help. He plays a style that will win very little and might not be the best to have in an opposition or even your own team but brilliant for the neutrals.

@@colshivers8018 I think every poll in the world has him top 5 which is impossible if he cant win a game. If you look at his Scotland stats (2022) his goal kicking is above that of the 3 England FHs, his tackling is only below Ford and his gains per game is 2nd to Smith. Richie Mounga has better metres made but lower on kicks and tackles. To me if you can have FHs like Smith and Russell its not just better for neutrals, its better for everyone to watch and doesnt weaken your game.
