The tradesmen we've had in our house (Piemonte) have always been of the utmost professionalism and quick too. One gave me a pretty high bid on some tiling on bathroom walls. I thought he was trying to stiff me and I took a shot at it myself. He was right. The wall needed to be replastered and the job was worth what he was bidding. I tried to get him back but he took offense that I questioned his judgment and another guy fixed my screwed up work. The flip side of this efficiency can be found in the Italian bureaucracy. They view the citizens' time as free and make you queue up endlessly and then require all kinds of useless documents/data. My theory is that it is to give the illusion of adding value.

In the 40+ years that I've been employed in construction, I've wheeled concrete up ramps, down ramps, pumped it, or even carried it in 5 gallon buckets up ladders, but I had never seen a wheelbarrow with a frame to lift it with a hoist. You've got a real specialized crew of masons there.

The quality work on your build is solid. These guys are excellent. I love watching this solid structure go up. A couple of the other homesteading/building channels I follow: Maya (I think she might be German or Swiss) in Portugal and Todd and Taylor in Canada (they're Canadian) have had a little or a lot of trouble with the work of their contractors and builders. It's wonderful to see that you're able to find such quality help in a country so far from home. It can be scary finding reliable help at home where you have command of the language and customs. And you have such a great attitude, as do your local helpers. Beautiful.

The space outside your bedroom would make a greate greenhouse space. So that it can be used both as a sitting area and a greenhouse all year round. Pluss the winter sun would also be a source of heat as passive solar has been a forgotten technology in the modern world. Imagine the smell of roses and fruits that travel through the house. I personally like Wisteria grapes which bloom 3 times a year. The purple color so beautiful. Your idea with the rugs would still work with the green space. Soon I am going to build my dream cottage of stone and glass. So I can bring the outdoors inside so I can enjoy all year round.

Here is some interesting information. Roman Concrete was not always poured wet. It was left somewhat dry in the mix. What would happen is that if the concrete were to crack, water would seep into the cracks saturating the dry mix. This in turn would straighten the structure without having to tear it all down. A very clever idea for areas prone to earthquakes.

It’s too bad that not more people on the internet know about your channel, I think it just might be the best channel out there today. Right now, watching you all do the stone work is not only interesting but amazing also. I want a stone house now too but I live in SW Florida. Haha. I am Roman Catholic and I have a habit that every time I pass in front of a church or if I hear church bells ringing, I make the sign of the cross. Whenever watching your videos, I am constantly making the sign of the cross ✝️. Hahaha. One last note, where have the kids been? You are documenting your life so the kids should be there every step of the way also. Take care and God Bless your family and your workers. ❤️

Everything is so labor intensive, not like at home where a cement mixer drives up to your home and drops a load of cement. After all this work I hope you will be so happy in your new home and new country. It’s already starting to take shape, I can’t wait to see the final results. Stay safe!

Dear Brady, The amount of work you do, equally with your skilled stone masons and carpenters, is astounding. Of course, they see it and hold you in high esteem. That said, I am worried about your health...this backbreaking work takes it's toll. I do hope that soon there will be an end to this bull labor so that you can finally have a few days off. It's always amazing to see these beautifully put together videos which are, in themselves, a labor of love. Be blessed -- all of you there on the mountain. Sending you Viele Glueck aus Deutschland. Liebe Gruesse, Jean 💞 💙 🇺🇦 📚 🌹

I love what you are all putting together. After so much demolition and working on a 600-year-old structure, it is almost a change in mindset for me to see the construction process with modern additions and finishes starting to come into view. It's going to blend in seamlessly. You have a great crew to work with. Well done!

Oh my my, heather can you be more excited about the terrace as I am?!!?? I so look forward to the terrace design, the view, which I never tire of. To crawl out of bed with a cup of java, sit back and take on whelming vew! I could easily sit there all day with a now and then walk uphill and back again, time for lunch. lol! I would be glued to the view in all the seasons! So spectacular! Enjoy as I would from afar, Enjoy! Thank you for sharing!
