Finishing the SVT Engine Swap in my Ford Escort

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I managed to melt a forged piston in my previous Zetec engine, so it was time for a new one. This time I'm going with a Ford Focus SVT engine. This SVT engine has forged pistons with slightly higher compression, and a smoother flowing head. In the last episode, we converted everything over for fit the escort chassis. However we ran into a few setbacks that meant we couldn't finish the engine in time for the next track day. In this episode, we finally finish the swap!

I came across this channel looking for videos on the Escort ZX2 after seeing one in a Craigslist ad. The fact you've stripped out the interior gives me a good idea of where the supports are under all the plastic and what I'll need to repair if I want to restore the car (the top of the body is in pretty damn good shape, even the paint. It's just the Iowa Kraken of Salt that did it in). I ended up buying it despite the rust and engine trouble. It's being brought over on a trailer Saturday (didn't even charge me extra for that, which is nice). It's never going to be THIS clean (or fast for that matter). But if I fix the rotted quarters to halfway passable and get the old girl in good running shape again, I'll declare it a success. As someone who's never driven much because of poor eyesight (limited to a 125 bike for the most part), can I just comment on how nice the visibility out of these things actually is for how small they are? When your left eye's there purely for symetry's sake, little things like that make a lot of difference.

I have a ZX2 and an XR650L. I rebuilt my XR for the price it would have been to buy another used one. My ZX2 is almost due for an engine and transmission rebuild. Watching this inspires me to spend the money and do it right. You should always do what makes you happy, even if it means spending a lot of money on your "cheap" vehicles. I saw the video getting closer and closer to the end. Now I'm so sad to see it's over. Please make the next one asap.

Being the st170/cossie/svt engine in the focus is based on the z teck that is found in the zx2 it only makes sense. Back in 05-06 I did a svt swap on my automatic zx3 and I was very surprised in all the difference between the two twin cam 2.0's . I was lucky I had an entire donor car for my swap. I looked into turbos but back then there wasn't much out there and being a 10.5-1 compression engine and lack of tuners it was a bit sketchy. This should be a very fun car.
