I never cease to marvel at the depth and variety of your mechanical knowledge. Over such a wide range of vehicles. Either you have spent years mugging it all up or you simply work it out as you go along. Bit of each I suppose!

Some interesting additions to the Dodge M37. The lights on the boom will be of help if you are asked to recover something at dusk or in the dark. They seem to give bright light which is what is needed. I like the new horn that is very much the same as the old one as you say but 12 Volts and the method of wiring was a good idea. I think you have now covered almost every eventuality you are likely to encounter when out in this truck, all very worthwhile. Thanks Steve for the post this series has been enjoyable and I know there will be more to come. 👍👍

Nice job. You always do a great job reasoning out what needs to be done and then executing your plan.

The wrecker is coming along nicely Steve. It is turning into a functional vehicle, and it is classical enough to do it with style! Free wheeling hubs are simply the best. You can engage low range to assist with backing up a trailer while on hard surfaces without worrying about potential driveline damage, or creep along slowly without riding the clutch. They supposedly reduce fuel consumption by not requiring the engine take into account the additional load of the front driveline, however to me the savings would be negligible. I do recall that being something promoted in old advertisements in magazines back in the day though. I do have to say though, I cannot recall ever hearing someone describe anything Lucas electrical as being "high quality" ever!

Unfortunately now that everything for sale is made in China, a Lucas switch is now much higher quality than the new stuff being offered.

You cannot hear anything from them over the rest of the truck. They might make a noise but you can’t hear it.
