Do the polishing discs damage or remove the enamel? Good informative video.

No, the grit of the polishing discs are very fine they only create luster on the surface and do not remove enamel. Please note that the finishing discs (the first step of the finishing and polishing process) is the steps where you remove excess, so the finishing may remove minimal tooth structure but not to a degree that causes extreme damage as the high abrasive or cutting instruments.

@@drafnanoalzainThank you for your explanation. The one my dentist used was reddish in colour, a brand called Sof-Lex Extra thin. I think his kit was blue, red, orange and yellow. Red would be after the blue disc as far as grit? Yeah my concern was to not remove the enamel of my tooth 🦷

Do we always need to do finishing? If the composite feels good can we skip to polishing?or is it a must to finish before?

@@zahraaalbadri1152 it is possible, we can do only polishing if all margins are sealed, no further adjustment needed, and no occlusal interference.
