Finishing a Class Assignment Pays Off Big For a Charter School Student: $40K BigFuture Scholarship

Congratulations to Kwynn T., a sophomore at University Laboratory Charter School in Mānoa, for winning a $40,000 scholarship through BigFuture, the College Board’s invaluable online planning guide.
Kwynn shared that completing a college and career readiness class assignment is what made her eligible for the scholarship. School Principal Keoni Jeremiah said they have a strong college and career readiness program that helps students plan their future,"We have always had a dedicated college and career counselor from the 1980ʻs. Being a small school, we really try to support our students. We have a graduating class about 56 students, 100% graduation rate and above 90% go to post secondary education and our students are accepted to colleges and universities all over, Hawaiʻi, nationwide and even international. We are really proud of that."
Each month, the College Board selects hundreds of high school students nationwide to receive a $500 education scholarship, with two fortunate students like Kwynn winning $40,000 in scholarship funds. These scholarships are applicable to both two- and four-year institutions, and what's more, they have no essay, test score, citizenship status, family income, or minimum GPA requirements.
