The sound on the bright channel on the 1960 Deluxe is my idea of a Fender amp sound at it's best. If I were the owner I would be "Chuffed" at how great it sounds!

I recently fitted the PPIMV shown in another video to my 6g3. Works really well, though it can seem like the treble drops relatively to the volume, but that's easy to compensate with the treble knob. It means I can get into some crunch in my house without blowing out the windows!

I've "enjoyed" poison ivy, oak and sumac as well as poison 'tree' which I acquired while playing in the Florida keys and the kids I was playing with were somehow immune... Thanx Teach, and you have my sympathies...

Good luck with the poison sumac. In my early hiking years, I got poison oak over about 1/2 my body. My mom put me in a really hot oatmeal bath to break the blisters. I really bummer. Get well soon!

Thank you for all your efforts to share your knowledge Lyle. I built an Allen 6G3 kit years ago and have enjoyed it immensely. Your insights on the circuit's behavioral characteristics were helpful and validating.

A really nice repair/restoration, A big difference between the two channels. All in all another old Fender good to go for another forty years. Great work as usual.

Another informative and historical look into the mind of Leo and Lyle as this piece of history gets unfolded. Great job as usual Lyle. I love learning the why's to older circuit topology and how better things came along for a reason.

One of the best amps ever made - truly a mini-Marshall when dimed, and sounds ridiculous thru a Marshall full stack (two 4x12" cabinets). And believe me, I know what I'm talking about! 😀

Lyle, sorry to hear about that sumac exposure. 1% hydrocortisone cream use has its limitations ... skin has difficulty in the absorption of the cream. 1st do "warm h2o " soaks then pat dry. Another option is, that may work better for you is the use of calamine lotion ... hope this helps you and get well soon. Nasty stuff that sumac crap. Best Regards!!!

Spent a lot of my life in poison oak and being allergic to it. Only thing that truly works to hasten the rash is Zanfel and it’s expensive. And having your arms blown up is pretty terrible, you don’t realize how much your arms brush against things or are in contact with things until you’re leaving blister puss everywhere. Hope you’re past the worst of it.

I am one of those lucky people who is not allergic to poison ivy. I've contacted it many times and never ever had a rash. Sumac is another story however; and sometimes I get these weird little translucent bumpy-blister rashes from digging in certain types of soil. Anyway, I hate gardening and weeding. I basically weed whack my yard a couple times a year and otherwise leave it as natural as possible for the pollinating birds and insects; it's quite common to find small snakes, frogs and salamanders in my yard.

I've searched the internet and cannot find why the ground wire has to be longer than the hot and neutral wires, why is it stipulated as such by code? Lyle has mentioned this often, but will never say why it is so.

I will trade you my toes for the poison sumac. I had someone help me pull some test gear off my bench and a cord hooked on the heat sink of a dummy load and it tried to staple my foot to my shoe, to my sock and to the floor. By the grace of God the fins almost went perfectly in between my toes. If only my big toe wasn't so big.

@@David-xv6ye , the Hemlock is at least easy to spot and to avoid when it's in bloom. Poison Ivy is a bigger problem for most people, but I'm one of those people who is apparently immune as I have been in contact with it many times and I've never had a rash. I did have a nasty rash from poison sumac as a kid, however.
