I've been following this little man, and I realized that every notification I get since he's been sick, there's a moment of fear, and I send a silent prayer that it's not bad news! So this past week, every day each time I pray, I include this precious little elephant! I'm relieved to see him feeling well enough to be a picky little eater, and to take full advantage of the THREE loving humans waiting on him hand and foot! By the time he's 100%, he's going to be very cheeky and full of himself! ..... And he will be cherished all the more for it! 😂😂

Holy Cow....It takes a mountain! This could be the title of Adines children's book when she writes it! "The Baby Elephant who wouldn't eat" 😆 I had no idea it was this difficult or required so so so much patience! Adine and her orphanage team deserve much more than a standing ovation!! In many ways I often feel that Little Beni is harder to take care of than Khanyisa despite her horrific injuries. I truly think once the bone fragment is removed he will take on a new vigor and be well on his way to the long journey he deserves. Welcome Golden! Little Beni likes you already! Praying the Wee mans teeth poke thru soon...and his appetite grows once they do. Our hearts are full knowing the selfless diligence of Adine and her carers so determined to get this little soul on the way to complete recovery! ♥♥♥♥♥

Have been following from Australia since Khanyisa came into care with HERD, but this is the first time I’ve commented. Saw her survive and thrive, and also followed Fishan’s journey with his broken leg, and Mambo’s adventures with the wild herd. All the elephants are lucky to have such wonderful team of carers. But little Phabini is certainly proving to be a challenge. I am no expert and I know this may sound stupid but I wonder if Setombe eating his food in his line of sight might help, and even going so far as the carers pretending drinking from a bottle. (Monkey see, monkey do type of thing.) I have everything crossed for him. 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘❤️🇦🇺

You all are such wonderful people to keep trying all the different things for Phabeni to eat. Having grown up on a farm and having to feed stubborn calves and baby pigs I feel your pain on getting him to take his bottle. He is such a stubborn little fella and picky about what he will eat. I never realized how finicky that baby elephants can be. Prayers that he continues to improve. ❤

Phabeni is such a smart little baby! I love how he is sensitive to the tone of your voice, at 4:08 he is spoken to sharply and turns away - later he responds positively to warm tones in the lower register. Elephants seem to use their voices like we do, to comfort one another as well as communicate, it's a shame we can't hear most of their lower register rumblings.

It wasn’t just Khanyisa that was easy to feed milk to but also Fenya she loved the milk after she learned to trust humans and understood that the plastic bottle gave her milk. They both had terrible injuries too but drank the milk well.

The plastic bottles may be making the milk taste funny. People who dont drink a lot of milk dont always realise that plastic containers definitely change the taste of milk, and not for the better.

Phabeni the little fighter I know you're trying to gain strength. No matter how weak he was, he wouldn't give up. Thank you to the carers for giving him different types of food. Let him choose what he likes to eat.

Teething in wee ones (human babies) is a challenge. I can't imagine the discomfort sweet Phabeni is going through. I bet those cool apples he enjoyed smacking gave him some comfort . I continue to hold him and his caregivers team of healing in my prayers.

Aww, listen to his cute little smacks

You can hear him smacking his mouth when chewing his bucket food, at 9:07. So cute! Yes! Keep munching little guy!!!

You all doing everything to be sure little phabeni get nutritious and get him back to his health and happiness, he's not making it easy the little fussy eater 🐘🫶 pray he's getting stronger everyday 🙏🐘❤️

Poor little fella 😟 I feel sick in empathy when I see him turn away food, as if he has an upset tummy. A huge effort from everyone (not forgetting precious companions Lammie & Spotty!) to help Phabeni get better. Sending love & prayers xxx 🥰❤️🙏🐘🐑

He is breaking my heart. You work so hard to save him. He was doing so well, and now this. I pray you can get beyond this.

Phabeni seems wobbly when he walks 😢 you all are working so hard to save him. I hope he gets through this phase. He cannot hope for better care and dedication.

I messed up and watched this while I’m still at work… I usually wait until I’m home! I’ve got my “Clear Eyes” ready…so all is not lost! I pulling for him…and he’s pulling at my heart strings! Thanks to everyone!

Thank you for this update & for taking such dedicated care of this little fighter as someone who spent a lot of my childhood in & out of hospitals for some reason or another,usually the smallest cold that turned into pneumonia or some other virus (I was born severely immune compromised as a preemie)seeing him under the weather is particularly hard to watch but we know he’s in great hands,his little sighs as he sleeps 🥺not me counting his each breath get better baba we love you.🌈💙🐘🤗

Maybe a paediatric intensive care unit could advise regarding high calorie products for use with Phabeni. Are you still immunodeficient or did you grow out of it over time?

The hyenas and painted dogs spook me! I am so glad that the Homestead is well protected. I feel that Phabeni is going to really get stronger in the coming weeks!

The Herculean effort you all are putting forth isn’t lost on us! We can tell you are doing everything possible to help Phabeni get better! It’s heartwarming to witness and if I’ve ever commented harshly or as if I’m doubting that…it is not my intention. I’m so emotionally involved because he is so special and I don’t want my prediction of him becoming a leader of this Herd to be wrong! We all appreciate the tireless effort you all are giving…I know it’s going to pay off! He will never know how many thousands of people hang on every video and update you share. Or how much you and your staff are going above and beyond to help him! You are all proof that ANGELS WALK THE EARTH

Yes, Phabeni is a heart-melter, too cute for words! All the elephants there R beautiful! These guys R very lucky to B cared 4 by Herd. You guys love them so well. 😊
