Correction: it really IS Todd Howard. The original obviously isn't, but his face has been edited onto it. Notice how the Todd-variant at 7:53 seems to have two ears and is smirking, compared to the original at 10:30, who has a much more stern expression. Todd also seems to be gazing off into the distance, while that guy is focusing on something.

Both variants of the realistic Patrick (aka PATRIXXX) image were created by DeviantART user Brushcommander. The first version was created on a previous account of his whose name I can't recall at the moment, but I remember it was created around December 2007 - January 2008. The later version (updated version, as he called it) was created on June 12, 2009. The same user also created a popular creepy image of Squidward holding a knife, which appears on Google images if you search his username. He's since moved accounts a third time and is now known as 'Thorsten-Denk', though he isn't really active anymore. *UPDATE:* Brushcommander's previous account was called 'Nickar' and the image was originally uploaded on April 25, 2007. Thanks to everyone who told me!

I can 100% remember seeing the realistic patrick image back in the day on 9gag along with a realistic spongebob, squidward and mr crabs in the same post. As far as I can remember, the post said, they were created by an 3d artist as a parody.

Two of my friends actually recall watching a video by pixeloo (the realistic Mario creator) which was some sort of speed art showing him making the actual image itself. They remember him grabbing images of actual people and morphing them into Mario. I legitimately cannot find anyone else who recalls this but considering it’s not just one person who remembers it but two people who remember the exact same video, I have a good feeling it’s legit. If anyone in this comments section has any idea about this, please let me know because I’d love to help solve this mystery for my friends

1:58 Tineye does not show the earliest instance of an image that Tineye could find instead, tineye searches the web for images, and when it finds one it generates a date based on when it finds it and that does not mean that it is the earliest instance of that image on TinEye. it might even list earlier examples after the image that you found.

I've seen that Patrick image as far back as I can remember, I'm surprised it's origins are lost. I genuinely thought this was a stupid thing to cover because it would be a very quick entry. Really interesting. From what I remember there was a whole series of these done by the same guy, specifically a realistic Mario image as well exists by the same person I believe. Take this with a grain of salt of course, these are memories from when I was probably 4 years old, but maybe it's a lead to look into. Search for a realistic Spongebob that has the same vibes, find it's creator, and see if they also made this one? That's the only idea I got. Hope this helps

Another great video! Thank you for the research you do with these vids and with spreading the names of the people who acutally make them. I had two ideas for a possible video topic: The first one is cursed MLP images. I don't know how you feel about brony stuff but there's no questioning MLP played a big part of childhood web trauma for people and there are a good few images that could be talked about. There's also more lighthearted, less creepypasta ones too. The other idea is SM64 liminal space images. I see them spread around a lot, like the unsettling empty angle of Peach's castle's inside, or rooms mades from assets from the game but not an actual location, so it feels familiar but distant. It'd be nice to know some of the artists behind these.

The artist of the Patrick image is Torsten Denk. A German artist who posted it on his now wiped Deviantart account “Nickar”. He also made the angry realistic Squidward image when he was 17. He now works as a freelancer.

I remember reverse image searching for the image of realistic Patrick Star in 2017 and it went back to 2001. but when I search it this time it does not come up. I think it was called 'El Star' or something like that. EDIT: I remember the website it was on being called either 'PictoBuerro' or 'BuenoPicta' maybe something like that. It was a Spanish-speaking website, and since I don't speak Spanish I don't really know what was said. My guess was from somewhere in Central America, as the city names of Managua, San Jose, and Paramaribo came up.

the sunglasses cat was my profile photo on facebook for years when i was like 12-14, used it as my phone wallpaper, laptop wallpaper, i printed out the photo and put it on my school binder... SUNGLASSES CAT WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS. Also you should make another video that talks about the realistic dolphin face picture, its this guy who looks like he is wearing like, a dolphin head prosthetic ?? it made me so scared as a kid!

Hey don’t know if this helps but the realistic Patrick image might be made by a 3d artist known as miguel vasquez. He makes realistic 3d models of cartoon characters.

Commenting this in hopes that this will be covered sometime for another lost media video. While going through my Tumblr archive to archive old artwork on Toyhouse, I found a post briefly talking about a Neopets Halloween event that's heavily inspired by the tv series Supernatural. When looking this up I only get Tumblr and Reddit posts talking about it with screenshots of the event, no videos (at least not that I've seen yet). I also don't know if this event is on the wayback machine or is still a reoccurring event (is Neopets even around anymore?). One Tumblr post that I think documents the most is this one called Kellykline, it's the second result when looking up "Supernatural Neopets", or should be. As a fan of both franchises this was a shock to see. At least with Scooby Doo's crossover it made some sense, the two franchises both hunt down monsters and ghouls and solve mysteries. This deserves so much more recognition, I think

There's also a realistic Squidward drawing in a similar style to the Patrick drawing. It could have been drawn by the same artist, so maybe that's a lead
